“Right, because you didn’t want me to see you that way. I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable. Not to mention, the little general couldn’t handle seeing your body and not acting on it.”

“The little general?” I asked, though I was pretty sure I knew the answer.

He flushed bright red, shaking his head. “The point is, it doesn’t matter. It’s out there now. I love you and I don’t want you to go. Of course, I’ve probably ruined that now by confessing my undying love to you. If you never want to see me again, I’ll understand, but you should know that I’m a good catch. I’m much better than Andrew, that fucker who leaves you for months at a time to go do his big rig shit. And that fireman?” He scoffed, shaking his head. “I mean, sure he has an axe, but why does that mean he’s better than me? I’m muscular. I can swing an axe!”

I shook my head in confusion, trying to understand what he was saying. But there was one point that I clearly hadn’t made yet, and I was going to rectify that.

“Just stop!” I shouted, finally getting him to stop rambling about the fireman and his fire pole.

“Right, sorry. I’ll go now.”

I reached out and grabbed his arm, dragging him back to me. “Where are you going?”

“To lick my wounds. I thought that much was pretty clear.”

My eyes twinkled with amusement. If Lee was here right now, she’d probably be gagging at how amazed I was by this man. “So, you’re telling me that you’ve loved me all this time.”

“Basically. Yeah.”

I pursed my lips, fighting back the smile that threatened to take over my face. “And what if I told you that I’ve been falling in love with you this whole time?”

“You—” His brows pinched together as he stared at me quizzically. “You like me?”

“More than like.”

“But you went out with the fireman. You punched me on the shoulder.”

“Would you stop with that?” I groaned. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about! You decided that I didn’t like you based on an action that could have meant anything!”

“Wait…so, you’re saying you don’t not like me.”

“I’m saying that I wouldn’t have shown up at your house at two in the morning if I could sleep in my own bed without thinking of you and wishing you were beside me.” I stepped closer to him, running my hands up his chest. “I’m saying that I’ve been falling in love with you too, and it nearly killed me when I thought you didn’t want me with you. I can’t sleep unless I’m wrapped in your arms.”

I watched his throat bob as he swallowed hard and his eyes studied mine. “Really?” I nodded. “Because…I have to tell you, sleeping next to you and not touching you has been…the worst thing in my life. That and the constant dreams I have about ripping off your clothes. It’s not natural.” He sighed heavily. “And while we’re confessing things, I should probably tell you that I jack off to you every morning because I wake up with your legs wrapped around me. It’s become a problem. I asked the boss to send me away on a job before I risked having permanent blue balls.”

I stepped back in shock. “By job…you don’t mean…you didn’t sleep with someone else, did you?”

“No!” he shouted, grabbing me and hauling me back against him. “Never. I couldn’t if I wanted to. My dick only recognizes you as his one true love.”

“That’s…” I bit my lip, trying to contain my laughter. “Surprisingly sweet.”

“I thought so.”

“While we’re confessing things…I have something to tell you too.”

“Yeah?” he grinned, his hand tightening around my waist as he pulled me closer. My face flushed from the contact. If we stayed like this too much longer, they were going to need a crowbar to pry us apart.

“When you got up early to use the shower…I waited until you left and then I snuck out of bed to grab my vibrators. I had to do a lot of laundry to clean up after myself.”

He groaned, tossing his head back before looking at me again. “Now, why did you have to go and tell me that? Now, all I can think about is the fact that your cum was on my sheets and I missed it.”

I smacked him on the chest, not bothering to hold back my laughter any longer. “So…does this mean you’re going to kiss me?”

“I was thinking about it.” There was a twinkle in his eyes that I was almost positive matched mine.

This was it. He was finally going to kiss me. After all those nights spent in his bed, I would finally feel his lips on mine. I would deal with the fact that we were in love at a later point. All I needed now was to feel the magic that I knew had been brewing between us for the past few months.

He leaned in and my breath hitched. I watched with bated breath as he slowly moved in for the kill. My lady parts tingled in anticipation, which was probably a bad thing considering we were at school, but I ignored that.
