“I hate Hollywood,” she said, waving me off. “This place is so much better.”

“Kansas?” The question and disbelief in my voice couldn’t be mistaken. Yeah, I liked living in the country, but I’d never heard anyone say they actually liked Kansas.

“Well, aside from the tornados, it’s pretty nice. So much better than where I used to live. And the discounts are better too. I heard there was a big sale through the weekend, so I came to fill up on yoga pants.”

“Oh, do you do a lot of yoga?”

She scoffed. “Not if I don’t have to, but they’re comfortable. And Fox likes the way my ass looks in them.”

Okay, I didn’t really know what to say to that.

“Dash told us about how you lost your house. It’s nice that he let you stay with him. I was actually surprised, but now that I’ve met you, it totally makes sense.”

“How so?”

“Well, you’re beautiful. I can see why he instantly fell for you.”

I almost burst out laughing. If only she knew. “It’s not like that. He made it pretty clear he’s not interested.”

“Really? But I could have sworn…” She shook her head slightly. “His loss.”

“Hey!”

I spun and saw another woman running over, shoving the last of a cheeseburger in her mouth. “—orry I’m wate!”

“You could have finished eating,” Anna smiled.

The other woman chewed for what felt like a full five minutes before finally swallowing. “I had to stop on the way. I didn’t have time this morning to eat.”

“Yeah, that would require you to get out of bed at a normal time,” Anna replied.

“I would have, but…I was busy.”

“Yeah, busy sleeping in.”

The woman pursed her lips, then turned to me, finally realizing there was another person standing there. “Sorry, who are you?”

“Laura.”

“She’s Dash’s girlfriend,” Anna grinned.

“Not Dash’s girlfriend,” I quickly corrected. “Just a friend.”

“Ah,” the woman nodded, smiling knowingly. “I heard about you. I’m Juliette.” She thrust her hand in my direction, taking mine without letting a second pass.

“Like I said, Laura, and there is no relationship with Dash.”

“Yeah, I said the same thing when I met Lock. But our chemistry on set made a liar out of me.”

“On set?”

“Oh, I used to model.”

I knew she looked familiar! “You’re Juliette Cassinelli!”

She thrust out her left hand, showing off a beautiful ring. “It’s actually Juliette Lock.”

“That’s right! You had that big wedding! I saw the photos. You were gorgeous,” I grinned. I couldn’t believe I was standing here with an actress and a model. It was so surreal. “So, is your husband in construction also?”
