I raise my brows and chuckle. “Sparky, huh? What are you, a dog?”

Sparky isn’t happy with my commentary.

Oakleigh positions herself in between me and Sparky.

I lightly put my hand on her hip and Sparky grabs my arm. “Don’t you fuckin’ touch her dude.”

Oakleigh’s growing aggravated now. “He’s the only one who’s allowed to touch me!”

Sparkly reels his head back, likely shocked at what she said.

He furrows his brows in confusion. “What?”

Her tone grows more annoyed by the moment. “I’ll say it again. He,” she points back to me. “Is the only one who’s allowed to lay a hand on my body. Where the fuck were you? That shouldn’t have ever happened!”

Oakleigh’s rage is unleashing on this pathetic excuse of a bouncer, and she has every right to be mad.

There’s an intense moment of silence between the three of us.

I slide my arm around Oakleigh’s waist and back up, taking her away from the situation completely.

Once we’re far enough away, I turn her around to face me, surveying her features. “Are you okay?”

She clears her throat and nods once. “Yeah, I was scared more than anything.” her tone grows soft, “Thank you so much.”

I lick my lips lightly. “You don’t gotta thank me for that, Cola. No way in fuckin’ hell I was about to let that shit slide.”

There’s a softness in her eyes, something that shows me just how appreciative she is.

Someone clears their throat to my left, and sure as shit it’s Python. “Fuck, this is a friend of mine, Python meet Oakleigh. Oakleigh, this is Python.”

Oakleigh puts her walls back up and smiles brightly, “Hey there, it’s great to meet you. You in the club?”

She’s eyeing the cut he has on, but he doesn’t belong to a club, so I explain that to her. “Python’s a nomad, so he lives life on the road. But, I’m trying to convince him to join the Reapers Rejects.”

Oakleigh’s brows shoot up. “You should. My dad’s in the club and he loves it. Gave him a real sense of purpose.”

Python’s eyes shift over to me and an amused smirk tugs at his lips.

He’s getting a kick out of the fact I have the hots for one of my brother’s daughter’s.

Python nods, “I told him I’ll think about it,” Python averts his eyes over to me. “I’ll let you know in a week or two.”

He extends his hand and we both shake. “Sounds good.”

Python walks off and even though the club is packed, the only person I’m focusing on is Oakleigh.

I pull her against my chest, only wanting to wrap my arms around her protectively.

She melts into my embrace.

I don’t want to let her go, and yet I’m supposed to head back to Mexico in a couple of days.

Fuck.

What am I going to do?
