I get enough powdered mix, pour some milk in, and put one egg in as well, combining all three ingredients until the batter is at the perfect consistency.

The pan is ready so I spray some oil on and put enough batter on for three small pancakes.

I wait until one side is done and flip them over, and while I wait for them to cook all the way through, thoughts of Razor fill my mind.

His strong arms, unwavering loyalty, and the way he somehow makes me feel like I’m actually important.

It’s an odd feeling, one that makes me happy and scares me at the same time.

Razor has this habit of making me feel like I’m worth helping, even if I don’t think I am sometimes.

With the pancakes cooked to golden perfection, I use the spatula to get them off the pan and put them on a plate I grabbed a moment ago.

I pour syrup generously over the top of them and watch as they soak the syrup up.

Yup, this is going to be delicious.

I grab my coffee cup, take my food, and go sit at the island.

As I eat, I still feel pretty good, but I know this isn’t going to last.

I’m on some euphoric high from the night I had from Razor, and I’m going to come crashing down at any given moment.

But, I’ll enjoy this time for as long as I can.

Glancing up, the devil himself comes in through the doorway, his broad shoulders filling the frame.

"Morning, Cola," he says smoothly, grinning wide. "You know, you need some protein to go along with those carbs."

I roll my eyes at him as I notice how the light accentuates the sharp angles of his jaw. “I think I’m good with just the pancakes, but thanks.”

"Suit yourself." He leans against the counter, watching me. "Just thought I'd make sure you got a good meal in so you’re fueled for the day.”

I raise a single brow. "Well, I appreciate the concern, but I've been feeding myself for all these years, so I got it covered."

He licks his lips and chuckles lightly. "Fine, have it your way. But if you change your mind, I’m a damn good cook."

I take another bite of my pancake, savoring the sweetness. "Good to know,"

While I eat, I wonder if there’s more to us than just sex.

We have this playful banter between us, there are often times when I catch him staring at me from across the room, and the way he stood up for me last night . . . it makes me wonder.

Taking a sip of my coffee, I glance around, trying to make sure no one is lingering in the hallway.

Razor catches me and is obviously amused by it. “Don’t worry, we’re the only two down here. Which means I can ask you this. Why’d you sneak out of my bed this morning?”

Nervousness causes my gut to sink. “I didn’t want anyone to see me leaving your room.”

He smirks, “Relax, no one was up. You could’ve stayed nestled up against me.”

My heart pounds in my chest.

In theory, I would have loved to, but I’m not going to risk it.

Licking my lips, I nod. “Got it.”

"You don’t need to be so nervous." Razor comments, heading to the stove he grabs the pan I just used and takes it over to the sink, scrubbing it clean.
