“Dad,” I grit, trying to make sure I’m not too much of a bitch. I keep my composure, while also getting my point across. “I needed to get away from the club for a bit. I’m sure you can understand why, and I knew if I told you, you were going to try to talk me out of it. Look, I know you, okay? I know that’s what would have happened, and you can’t convince me otherwise.”

He huffs on the other end, “You can’t just disappear and not say anything.”

I click my tongue, “Yeah, and it’s why I left you a note, and fucking texted you.”

“Whoa. Don’t you get lippy with me, little girl,” He growls in frustration.

I blink a couple of times, replying sassily. “Yeah, well, don’t act like a cum guzzling gutter slut and maybe I’ll be a little nicer.”

Razor stifles a laugh at the other end of the room, and I shoot him a warning glare. The last thing I want is for my father to know where I am.

Dad sucks in a deep breath and replies calmly, "Look Oakleigh, I’m just worried."

"I know you are, and I love you, but I need some space. I’ll talk to you soon. Love you, Dad. Bye." I hang up the phone, hoping he’ll understand and won’t be too worried about me.

Razor chuckles, getting a kick out of what I said. “Cum guzzling gutter slut, huh?”

I roll my eyes, “I needed to get my point across, okay?”

He smirks and a deep rumble of laughter escapes his chest. “Yeah, I got it.”

My phone goes off again, and I think it’s my father calling me back, but it’s not.

It’s Jada, my aunt.

“Who’s that?”

“My aunt, Jada.” I murmur, gnawing on my bottom lip.

“Answer it, talk to them. They’re just worried . . . so you deal with that and I’ll be downstairs. Okay?”

I nod, “Okay.”

Razor leaves our bedroom and I answer my aunt’s call.

"Hi Jada," I sigh into the phone, exhausted by how worried my family is.

"Hey sweetheart, your dad just talked to me.”

How did I know?

"Can you talk to my dad for me? Maybe calm him down? I’m not being a bitch, but I can't deal with him right now. I'm safe, okay? I just need a break. I'm in Mexico with Razor, but please don't tell him that. I just need some space."

"Mexico? With Razor?" she sounds surprised, but not upset. "All right, I won't say a word to your dad about where you are. But you better keep in touch with me. That’s my only stipulation.”

"Thanks, Aunt Jada. I will, I promise," I’m so grateful she’s at least trying to be understanding.

"Good. Now go have some fun, relax, and let me worry about your father,"

If there’s anyone who can handle my father, it’s my aunt and my stepmother.

He tends to fold to whatever the hell they say to him.

"Thank you so much," I reply, another stressful weight being pulled off my shoulders.

"Take care of yourself," Jada says, hanging up the phone.

As I hang up the phone, I think everything is going to get so much easier.
