Mmm, sometimes I wonder the same thing.

I stare into her eyes and be as truthful as I can. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I promise you, I don’t want you out of my life. I want to make sure you’re in it, standing right beside me.”

A soft smile tugs at her lips, undoubtedly grateful for the reassurance. “That’s all I needed to hear.”

I pull her closer, our bodies pressed together as I claim her mouth.

The connection between us is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

Sometimes, I swear I feel it all the way down to my soul.

It’s like Oakleigh is the very air I breathe, as if she’s the one I call home.

This incredible woman has changed me in ways I never thought would be possible, and I'd be a fool to let whatever we have turn to dust.

I run my hand along her cheek, “I need to get downstairs. She obviously wants to talk to me about something.”

Oakleigh nods, “Yeah, I know. Go ahead. I’ll be up here painting away.”

I make my way down to Amara’s office, only to find she isn’t here.

Furrowing my brows, I continue inside and take a seat across from her desk in a heavy, wooden armchair.

The air in her office is thick, and I wonder what it is she wants to talk to me about.

Drumming my fingers on the wooden desk, I wait for her to arrive.

I’m unsure of what news she has, but I have news to share.

Python has officially agreed to become the club’s enforcer, but he wants to be able to travel every once in a while.

When he explained it to me, he said the thing that made him leery of accepting the position was not being able to have as much freedom as he did before.

He knows accepting means a lot of responsibility is on his shoulders, and I promised him I’d make sure he can travel as much as we can allow.

Amara strides in through the door, her eyes locking onto mine instantly, going straight into work mode. "I have some stuff I want to discuss with you, but fill me in, has Python reached out? I know you said you were going to call him the other day.”

"Yeah, he has," I say, leaning back in the chair. "He told me his reservations about accepting the position and finally gave in. He has agreed to be our enforcer, but he wants to be able to travel . . . so we need to find a way to make it work."

“Perfect," she replies, her lips curving into a smile. "We’ll do whatever we can to accommodate him. The important thing wasfinding an enforcer we could trust, so if he wants to travel when shit isn’t crazy around here, by all means, he can fuckin’ travel.”

I nod, glad she’s not putting up a fight about anything. “He'll be a valuable asset to our charter for sure."

My mind drifts to Python, a man I've known for many years.

He’s an ideal fit for our club because of his loyalty and faith.

Not going to lie, it makes me feel damn good that I was able to get him to agree.

Amara pulls out her phone and starts scanning through messages, “Zane just got back to me about the prospects.”

I raise my brows in anticipation. “And?”

Her eyes continue scanning across her screen. “He said they should be here in a few days. The visas they needed were secured, so that was the biggest issue.”

“Perfect,” I pause, wondering how this is going to work in the long run. “Their tourist visas are good for six months, so what are we gonna do when those run out?”

She inhales sharply through her nose, “I have no idea. We’re gonna have to look at the other visas and see what are feasible options for them individually.”
