I grunt, eyeing Stanley once more as their make-out session turns X-rated. My temperature rises because I’m almost positive if Brynn knew about the girl on his lap, she wouldn’t be cool with it.

Fucking asshole.

He has someone as amazing as Brynn and he’s messing around with another chick, when he should be taking her outand trying like hell to prove he’s worthy. I don’t care if he and Brynn are exclusive or not. She deserves better than some douchebg who’s going to take her out one minute and tell her all the things she wants to hear, then hook up with someone else the next.

“You got beef with him or something?”

I blink, realizing I’m still glaring when I turn back to Damon. Chris snorts and I shoot him a look, then shrug. “Brynn’s been seeing him, so based on the way he’s inhaling that chick right now, I might have a problem.”

“Riiiight.” Chris takes a sip of his beer, talking into his plastic cup. I can hear his smile, even if I can’t see it. “Brynn, the same chick you have zero interest in.”

I arch a brow. “I don’t have a thing for Brynn. I promised my buddy I’d watch out for her, so I fully intend to follow through. And now I see this douchebag sucking face with another girl right after I saw them cozying up in the coffee shop over the weekend? Naw.” I shake my head. “That shit doesn’t sit right with me.”

“Seriously?” Damon asked.

“Seriously. And Brynn isn’t the type of chick to play around. There’s no way she’d be cool with this.” I motion toward him. “She’s pure and innocent and good. Loyal, too. Everything this fucker isn’t, apparently.”

Damon grimaces. “Damn.”

“I’m gonna say something.” I tip back my beer, downing the rest of it, then crushing the cup in my hand.

“You sure that’s a good idea, dude? Maybe you should just leave it alone. Let her deal with it,” Chris says.

“Let him get his rocks off as I sit by and watch?” I grind my teeth until they ache. “Hell, no. Can’t do that.” I toss my cup in the grass as if to punctuate my words, hoping Stanley will haveto clean it up once the party’s over, then stalk over to where he’s lying back on the lounge chair, the brunette straddling his lap.

I wait approximately two seconds for them to come up for air, and when they don’t, I clear my throat.

The girl leans back, and blinks up at me, a glazed look in her eye that tells me she’s wasted. Stanley, on the other hand, seems to have his wits about him as his gaze focuses. Surprise flickers in his eyes before he plasters a cocky grin on his face and offers me a hand to bro slap, which I ignore. “Jace. What’s up, my man. Welcome to Psi Delta.”

“Cut the shit,” I snap.

The chick shifts on his lap, then slides off. “Um, I think I’ll get a drink.”

Stanley watches her ass as she saunters toward the keg, and I have a half a mind to rip his eyes out, the fucker.

“I assume you’re done with Brynn, then?”

His gaze snaps back to mine. “Not that it’s your business, but Brynn and I are in a good place.”

My brows rise as anger smothers my insides like molten lava. This guy is a real piece of work.

“Thisis what you consider a good place?” I motion to the girl whose ass currently holds Stanley’s attention. “You hooking up with other chicks when she’s not around?” I laugh, the sound incredulous. I might be a player, but at least I’m upfront about it. I’ve never once entertained a chick without her knowing the stakes. “Wow, what a catch you are. Brynn sure won the lottery.”

He shrugs. “We’re not exclusive.”

“So she knows you’re fucking around with other girls?” When he says nothing, I have to fight the urge to implant my fist in his face. It would be worth the bruised knuckles and five seconds of gratification. “She deserves better,” I grind out as I lean toward him. “And I think you know damn well how she’d feel about this.”

“Let me guess . . .” Stanley flicks a piece of lint from his shirt with a grin. “You’re going to tell her.”

“Damn straight.”

When Stanley laughs, the sound grates on me. “You’re so obvious, bro.”

“I’m not your bro,” I say between clenched teeth. “Just doing my duty as a friend.”

“A friend?” Stanley cocks his head. “She doesn’t even like you.”

“I have a loyalty to her family. And, unlike some people, I know what that means.”
