Now was probably not the best time to go into details, though I was ready to shout them from the rooftops.

Iwasdating someone. A handsomesomeone who I wanted in every part of my life that he possibly could be. If that meant introducing him to Dad, all the better.

“Yeah,” I said. “His name is Hawk.”

Pris or Stina would have heralded Hawk’s billionaire status. They would have crowed of his successful candy company, of how they managed to snag him before anyone else did.

Maybe sometime, I’d tell Dad about Hawk’s financial status. But for now, it was enough to have a man with Hawk’s character care about me.

When I was with Hawk, all those other details didn’t matter. Even if he had no money or status—no candy, I thought with a chuckle—I’d want to brag about him anyway.

He was a good man, and that was what mattered. Someone I could see a future with. Someone who gave all he had to those he cared about. Someone who wore silly socks and kissed like he was making confessions.

He was all I wanted. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

I was anxious to see him again, as soon as I could, but he said he had something he needed to take care of first.

I was dying to know what it was.

I saton my bed and watched as box by box took up space on the screen. Many of the guys had their cameras on, and it bolstered me to see so many familiar faces.

I hadn’t spoken with some of these guys in years.

I waited to be sure as many of them were on as possible. No Knox, Henrik, or Hunter yet. No Wesley, either, but he hadn’t entered The Pact.

We’d have to do what we could without them.

Adrian gave me the thumbs up, so I began.

“It’s good to see you all. Maybe we can plan a reunion under better circumstances, but I’m afraid my reason for instigating this call is less friendly.”

“What’s going on?” River asked from his box in the lefthand corner.

“The Pact has become a problem,” I said.

If they groaned, I couldn’t hear it with their screens muted.

“A problem how?” River asked.

Adrian, Grey, and I volleyed, sharing our stories.

Bria had been attacked at knifepoint by Will. Ten years later, after just being released from prison, Will attacked Gabby and kidnapped her to get back at Adrian. And Ella’s reputation had been jeopardized, nearly landing her in jail.

“I hope you see the need to put a stop to it before you or your girls are next,” I said.

“Do you know who’s behind it this time?” Ulrich’s screen displayed only his name. His camera was turned off.

“We don’t,” I said. “Duncan, Maddox, and I tried catching whoever it was, but he got away.”

Sean’s face appeared. “So you want to abolish The Pact for good?”

“Yes,” I said. “Sean, I feel like I should defer to you, since you were our president.”

Sean had been the one to head our hazing night where the story was told, where we all signed The Pact in the first place.
