“We’rein love,” I said. “We’re true to each other. Aren’t we?”

“Yes.”

“And I want it, too.” Daniel stiffened like I was pressuring him. “But if you don’t want us to—”

“I want us to!” he said fiercely. “That’s the problem.”

I stroked his chest. “It’s all right. We’re all right.”

He drew me into his arms and held me tight.

When we fucked again, sometime in the middle of the night, he used a condom. I didn’t protest or try to talk him out of it. It was still good—sogood. If wearing a condom was what he needed to do to feel safe, I was okay with that. I had to be.

The following morning,I woke up to Milky Way panting in my face.

Daniel laughed. “Wanting breakfast, Miss Milky Way?” he asked.

She went berserk, jumping up and down on the bed, landing on my legs, my stomach, and my chest, making me shout and laugh and roll over to protect myself.

Daniel rose from the sheets, naked and gorgeous. I let my eyes roam over his body as he stretched. I remembered the intimacy of having him inside me raw the night before—it’d only lasted a few strokes, but it’d been mind-blowingly hot, and surprisingly emotional.

The tears in his eyes as he’d moved in me had been heady, and even the panic that had replaced the sweetness as he’d pulled out had been meaningful. I wanted to drag him back into bed, open my legs, and tug him into myself again, and again, and again.

Instead, I let him walk away. He put on some boxers and headed out to the kitchen to feed Milky Way before she lost her mind.

Standing up to go take a piss, my legs trembled as I walked. The night had been undeniably intense, and I was still shaky even after sleeping. There was little chance of me getting “over” Daniel’s cock anytime soon. I didn’t know if fitting it in was ever going to be less of a challenge, but every time it was worth it. Beyond worth it.

I brushed my teeth and rinsed, and then turned on the shower, feeling for the cold to turn warm. Distantly, I heard the back door open and close, and Milky Way’s excited barking as she encountered a squirrel, or a bird, or a chipmunk. I climbed into the warm water. It was a dream on my back, and I leaned forward, letting it wash over my tender hole too.

I’d just washed my hair when the bathroom door opened. Daniel brushed his teeth, too, and took a piss. He moved the soft, green curtain aside and peered in at me. “Room for one more in there?”

I beckoned him in, turning to face the stream.

He slipped in behind me, cooler air stirring as the curtain fell back into place, leaving us in the quiet shelter of the bathtub. It wasn’t that we hadn’t showered together before, but it’d always been at Daniel’s old place, in his big shower there. This tub-shower felt more intimate, closer, and altogether ours instead of a wet oasis in a big, vacant home that was, essentially, no one’s anymore.

Daniel edged up behind me, and I shivered as his hands smoothed around my torso and slipped up to touch my nipples. My cock took instant notice, rising against the water spray. “Hey,” I whispered, my throat still scratchy with sleep.

“Hey,” he replied, kissing the side of my neck.

Things escalated, the soap coming into play to make our mutual jerking even more slippery and wonderful. Our kisses became erratic as we clenched and held each other close. No sooner had we both grunted and come, shooting against each other’s legs and torsos, than Milky Way started barking to be let in.

“That dog…” Daniel murmured, kissing my cheek.

“I’ll get her,” I said, washing the cum off and stepping out to grab a towel. “I was almost done anyway.”

I put on my glasses so I could see and padded to the back door to open it. Milky Way bounded in, skidding to a stop by her water bowl and lapping at it. I was exhausted and wished I could slide back between Daniel’s soft sheets and spend another day in a daze of physical pleasure and emotional contentment in his bed.

But I couldn’t.

I had classes all today, and I had a test on Friday on the six chapters from our Psychology text, none of which Donnie Huggins had ever covered in class. I also had a paper due in English Literature, anda photography group project that was not coming together well. Both due by Monday—the last day of the semester.

I opened my overnight bag, and I was dressed and had put my contacts in by the time Daniel came out of the bathroom, still slick and pink from the hot water.

“No, don’t go,” he pleaded as soon as he saw me. “I just got home.”

“I know. I don’t want to.” I crossed over to him and wrapped him in my arms. “But I need to. I’ve got class.”
