I shook my head. “Nope. Not then.” The silence in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. “Maybe I should’ve tried harder. But I never hid from you.”
Tom started laughing. “When you brought him that pepper burger.”
I covered my face, laughing. “I was so pissed off at him.”
“How about the pig balls?” Henry stood up, collected our plates and took them to the sink.
“You deserved that too!” I laughed harder. “Especially after pissing in my locker!”
He spun to face me. “I did not pee in your locker.”
“My locker was next to Bubba’s.” I pinned him with my glare. “So you absolutely peed in it.”
“Motherfucker.” He grumbled. “Guess who told me which locker was his.”
“Ugh.” I groaned. “That disgusting witch.”
“Miranda?” Tom took my hand in his. “This is not a slight, but I’ve missed enough time with my grandson. This weekend, could I have him?”
Tears fell down my cheeks. “I’m so sorry. Yes. You absolutely can spend time with him.”
“Thank you.”
“Thank you for not hating me.”
“You’re the mother of my grandson.” He beamed. “I could never hate you.”
Henry cleared his throat. “I need to get Dillon home, bathed, and in bed.” He stormed from the room and I felt my eyes well up with tears.
“Time.”
I nodded and got up to load the dishwasher. The men talked with the boys and after they left; I heard Charlie telling the dogs about his new grandpa.
He was so happy, and I was happy for him.
But how the hell are things going to work out now?

“Does you like Charlie?” My son asked happily from the backseat.
“I do.” Lifting my head, I looked at him through the rearview mirror. “Do you like Miranda?”
“Uh-huh.”
The smile on his face told me everything I needed to know. But curiosity got the best of me. “Do you mind sharing Grandpa with Charlie?”
“Nope.” He kicked his little legs.
“What about sharing me?” I pulled into our driveway.
“You be Charlie’s daddy?”
“Yeah.” I killed the engine. “Would you like to have Charlie as your brother?”
“Uh-huh!”
Sitting there in my driveway, I could still smell her. My lips were still buzzing from our kisses and I reached down to adjust my erection before getting out of the car.
