“At ten weeks, our baby is the size of an olive. The nickname sorta stuck.” He shrugged.

Shit. I was going to cry.

“There isn’t much I can do until you bring him or her into the world, except make sure their mama is safe and healthy.”

My heart stopped in my chest, but he wasn’t finished filleting me open.

“I love you both, so much. It would literally kill me if anything happened to either one of you.”

Tears streamed down my face faster than he could wipe them away with his thumbs.

“I love you too, Hot Shot.”

He wrapped me in his arms, lifting me off the ground and spinning in circles while kissing me passionately.

“Excuse me,” the salesman, Bill, interrupted. “Have you decided?”

“We’ll take the white one and the black,” Alec answered.

“I didn’t say yes.”

“You love me?” He gleamed.

“I guess.” I rolled my eyes to the sky.

“Can you have them ready today?”

“Absolutely, sir.” He rubbed his hands together. “If you’d follow me, we’ll get the paperwork complete on your trade-in and purchases while they detail these two for you.”

“Excuse me, Bill?” Both men turned their heads as I spoke. “I’d like the pretty red one, not the white, please.”

“Always so difficult,” Alec muttered under his breath.

While the two of them discussed the trade-in value of the Porsche, which I learned was nearly enough to pay for both SUVs, I took my phone out and sent a group text to the girls.

Me: Did you two know?

River: Maybe?

Ems: I plead the Fifth.

Me: Have I taught you two nothing? Chicks before dicks.

Ems: Sorry, but you needed it.

River: What she said.

River: What kind did you get?

Me: The stupidly expensive kind.

Ems: How much did you fight him?

Me: I had him shaking in his boots until he used the safety of my unborn baby against me.

River: Your car is a piece of shit, Quin.

Ems: It isn’t safe.
