I may forget your smile, but you’ll always be in my heart.

You are Strong.

You are Fearless.

EPILOGUE

Allesandro

Nine months later

HAVING A BABY was life-altering. Having a baby girl was on a whole new level. Carlotta Isabella del Toro came screaming into the world on her due date. With my dark hair and her mother’s stunning green eyes, she was by far the best birthday gift I’d ever received. Three months later and the newness of being a father still hadn’t worn off. Most nights, when I wasn’t making love to my wife, you’d find me hovering over the crib.

My wife.

I’d never get tired of saying those words. We made it official, two months to the day after I proposed, in the same small church in Mountain Grove where Quin’s parents had been married. It was a small affair, only close friends and families were invited. Rico surprised us by getting ordained online so he could perform the ceremony. Needless to say, I threatened his life if he quoted any Billy Joel songs.

“Alec, did you get Charlie dressed yet?”

Carlotta was the Italian equivalent of Charles. When we sat down to pick names, we decided rather quickly to honor Charlie’s memory. If we’d had a boy, he would have been called Carlo.Maybe next time.

“Shit.”

“I’ll take that as a no?” Quin laughed, leaning against the doorway.

“I picked out her outfit.”

“Yeah, but it’s not on her body, Hot Shot.”

“I think she’s gonna smile. A real one this time, not just gas.”

“Mmhmm.”

She bent down to where I had the baby between my legs on the floor, and scooped her up.Damn baby thief. Why was it that all the women in my life were constantly stealing my daughter from me? She was mine…well okay, she was ours. In all fairness, Quin did the hard part. Nine months of pregnancy, then sixteen hours of labor was not for the faint of heart. Lord knows, if Quin hadn’t threatened to emasculate me, I probably would have passed out cold during the delivery. As it was, the nurse kept the smelling salts nearby, just in case.

“We need to hurry up.” She slipped the little onesie over Charlie’s head. “Mom is meeting us at the house in thirty minutes.”

I was well aware of our time constraint, which was why I was stalling. There were a few surprises in store for my beautiful Firefly once we got to the farm. It was my job to make sure we were running late enough for everything to be in place.

“Calm down, baby. It’s only a five-minute drive.”

“You still need to shower, Alec.”

“Care to join me?”

I stepped up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. She was leaning over the changing table and by the hitch in her breath, I knew she felt my half-hard cock where it pressed against her ass.

Needless to say…we were very late.

Quinlan

DAMN HIM.

I should’ve known something was up when he started dragging his feet all morning. He was always excited to go check out the progress on the house and now that it was finished, he was walking around the apartment like a slug.

It took everything in me to not burst into tears when I saw all the cars lining both sides of the newly paved driveway when we pulled up. Some of the vehicles I recognized belonged to family, others I’d seen around town. None of them were expected.

The fire had damaged a good portion of the inside of our home; however, the basic frame had survived. Our idea was simple; keep it as close to the original as possible, adding only a few updates here and there, including a larger kitchen to host family dinners.
