“Do you know what you’re having?” Jo asked. “I have so much I want to buy that little nugget. I need to know if I’m buying pink things or blue things.”

I smiled. “We find out in a couple of weeks.”

“Dude, we’re going to spoil the shit out of that kid,” Macon said.

“How’s Rowan feeling?” Jo asked.

“She just got through the first trimester, which kicked her ass. She was sick to her stomach. Tired all the time. Achy as hell. She’s doing a lot better, but now, she’s on the verge of showing, so I’m sure a whole new set of symptoms will be coming for us.”

“How are you handling all of this?” Macon asked. “I mean, you went from zero to a million. You good?”

Another question that was well deserved, but my answer was ready and honest. “I’m definitely good. I’m just trying to give her everything she needs. I have the easy part when it comes to this.”

Brady tapped his hand on the table. “Now, it makes sense why you got a new house. I’m assuming it’s for all of you?”

“Ahhh,” I breathed out. “At thirty years old, I’m finally saying goodbye to my bachelor pad.” I grinned. “Instead of deciding on her place or mine, I thought fresh would be best.”

“Good call,” Brady replied.

“A fucking baby,” Macon voiced softly. “I wasn’t expecting that.”

“Neither were we.” I laughed. “I think it still shocks the hell out of us every day.”

Macon’s back straightened. “Does her family know?”

My head hung. “She plans to tell her parents soon now that we’re past the twelve-week mark. Ridge probably as well. But I know she’s afraid to tell Rhett.”

“I’m going to give you a piece of advice,” Brady said before the room had a chance to turn quiet. “You’re the problem, so you need to fix that shit for her. Do it now before it spirals even further out of control.”

“I’m already on it,” I told them.

“Hi,” Rowan said as I answered her call, her voice coming through the speakers of my car. “I’m just heading to the office now. The meeting with the designer went great. She took photos. Measurements. I think we’re going to see mock-ups in just a few days—which, before you ask, is record timing.”

I chuckled. “Excellent.”

“Where are you? It sounds loud.”

“I’m driving to Walter’s.”

“Now?” She paused. “Ohhh, you’re going to tell him the news, aren’t you?”

That, among several other things, but I wasn’t going to mention any of that to her.

“Yes.” I turned at the light, heading toward Beverly Hills. “I told Macon, Brady, and Jo about the baby this morning.”

“Oh my God.Annnd?”

“Everyone is really happy for us. Even Brady, if you can believe it.” I slowed at the red light.

“Honestly, I kinda can’t.” She became silent. “He seriously had positive things to say?”

“I know it’s hard to process this, but things with him are going to be okay.”

Air huffed through the speaker. “In other words, I can stop avoiding him in the hallway.”

“Please don’t do that anymore. Face him straight on. I promise that will get things moving much faster between you two. I know that puts things on you, but in this case, it’s needed.”

“I can be the alpha in this scenario. I don’t mind.” Her voice made me smile.
