Was he actually communicating with Tandor? What if this wasn’t even Kyrex? Everything he’d said could have been skimmed from her thoughts. But why would he try to trick her? What did he gain?

The intruder made an impatient sound and reminded her, “They left the comm systems active, correct?” When she nodded, he urged, “With a few carefully worded questions, have one of your companions verify my identity.”

“My best friend would never lie to me,” Eden stated. “I’ll ask her.” Hopefully the others were listening to this strange conversation.

“You’re in good hands,” Ansley responded before Eden could even figure out how to ask the question. “I’ve always loved a good game of cat and mouse. We’ll do our best to keep the guards occupied. Get moving. Your new friend senses danger heading your way.”

“Be careful,” Eden urged.

Kyrex pulled Eden into his arms and her scream was muffled against his broad chest as the ship’s deck disintegrated beneath her feet. Flowing was faster than molecular teleportation, but it left her more unsteady. She clung to Kyrex’s thick biceps, not yet able to stand on her own. Her surroundings refused to focus and her smallest movement made everything spin again.

“A little warning next time,” she muttered, blinking repeatedly in an effort to restore her vision.

“It wouldn’t have mattered. Flowing is hard on the untrained body.”

Her eyes finally focused and she took a tentative step back so she could look around.

She stood in a… hotel room? But this was no ordinary hotel room. Everything was garish and vulgar. Everywhere she looked she encountered something obscene. A massive painting on one wall showcased an orgy in graphic detail. The bedposts were carved wood featuring naked creatures engaged in every conceivable sex act. A large mirror hung above the bed and a statue in the corner depicted a large breasted female being penetrated front and back by the tentacles of a sea creature.

“Where in God’s name are we?”

“A pleasure moon orbiting Torret,” Kyrex told her. “Jevara loves to bring his reluctant prisoners here. The dungeons are fully equipped with all sorts of helpful implements and no one pays attention to the screams.”

“Youknowyour cousin is here or you suspect?” She shifted her gaze all around the room trying to find somewhere she could look that wasn’t sexually stimulating. There was nowhere, so she focused on the center of Kyrex’s chest.

“I know for a fact that he was moved. Despite his determination to block me, I’ve been able to sense him in flashes. I locked on briefly as he entered the building and I am relatively sure that this is the place I saw.”

That was about the level of certainty she’d offered everyone else and they’d acted on what she’d told them. Wasn’t it hypocritical to disregard Kyrex’s conclusions now? “My last clear image became irrelevant when they moved him,” she admitted. “What’s our next step?”

He closed the space between them with two long strides and curved his fingers around her chin. Tilting her head back, he looked deep into her eyes. “How badly do you want to save him?”

“I haven’t known him that long, but I don’t want him to die.” It was more than that, a lot more. She’d begun to care deeply for the male in the dreams. However, she needed to find out if that male was actually Neloff or just a figment of her imagination.

“I can augment your mind link, give us a lot more control over what we see. He’s strong enough to keep one of us out, but he won’t be able to keep us both out. If we work together.”

The implication was unmistakable and she didn’t like it at all. “You want access to my mind?”

“I’ll need more than that.” His tone hardened and his gaze began to burn. “I need access to your power, which means I need access to your body as well as your mind.”

She gasped and twisted away. “Your cousin is fighting for his life and you want to stop and fuck me?”

“I can be fast and efficient, especially if you submit.” He smirked, his silver eyes gleaming.

“We’ll find another way,” she insisted.

He crossed his arms over his chest as challenge shaped his expression. “I’m open to suggestions.”

“How familiar are you with this place?” Needing an honest answer, she kept judgment out of her tone.

“Moderately. What do you have in mind?”

“Where are the dungeons?” she asked. “Are they divided into separate rooms or is everything out in the open?”

“There is an open play area in the basement for those who like an audience, but there are also four private rooms. He is doubtlessly being held in one of the private rooms.”

“So let’s go down there and see if he is being interrogated or if we can talk/fight our way past the guards. If he is being interrogated, we’ll have to reassess. But surely we can handle a couple of guards.” Before he could respond to her idea, she thought of a complication. “How are you planning to get him out of here?”

“I will have to Flow you to a safe location and then come back and Flow him out.” His gaze narrowed and his expression turned thoughtful. “With a few adjustments, we might be able to make this work.”
