He seems to understand my nonverbal cue, and I hear the quiet chuckle he’s trying to stifle as he walks out.

I turn back to Hadley and smile at her. “To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit, my love?”

She pulls me in for a tight hug before she looks up at me, her beautiful face becoming serious. “Danielle and I just went to see Andy.”

I stiffen at the statement, and she continues quickly.

“I didn’t tell you because I needed to face him one last time on my own. Plus, it was the only way he’d do what I’ve been asking.”

She pulls a packet of paper out of her bag and hands it to me.

“What is this?” I ask, ignoring the confession.

She seems to be alright, so I can’t be too upset that she did something to aid in her healing process. I take the papers, looking over the pages in my hand. At the top, I seeDivorce Decree.

My eyes dart back up to hers. “Are you serious?”

Hadley’s eyes are glassy with unshed tears as she nods. “I didn’t want to get your hopes up in case he decided not to sign.”

“A mhuirnín.” My arms wrap tightly around her as I inhale, committing everything in this moment to memory. “I love you so much.”

I wake up to an empty bed, the clock reading seven in the morning. I groan as I stretch my limbs, scrubbing a hand down my face. Cocking my head, I hear faint sounds coming from the other side of the house. Pulling on my flannel pants and a black t-shirt, I pad out of the bedroom and into the hall.

As I near the main part of the house, I can hear Hadley whispering, but I can’t make out who she’s speaking to. I turn the corner to see Hadley, my family, and our friends in my kitchen, none the wiser to my entrance. Liam sees me first and winks before he clears his throat.

Everyone turns towards me and screams, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

Hadley has the brightest smile on her face, and Sean comes running toward me and wraps his arms around my torso.

“Happy birthday, Uncle,” he says as he does the flashy hand movement Sean Hayes does inWill and Graceduring all of his “Just Jack” bits.

I bite back a laugh, shaking my head at him, when I notice James standing behind him. I walk over to him, wrapping him in a hug as well.

“It’s good to see you, kid.” I smile down at him.

He gives me a grin in response.

“Thank you, everyone. This is so unexpected.” I chuckle as I walk toward Hadley. “This was you, wasn’t it?” I ask her pointedly.

She doesn’t speak, just stands on the tips of her toes, pressing her lips to mine. I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her to me. It takes all my restraint not to pick her up and lay her out on the table right now, my morning wood barely concealed under the plaid print of my pants. She looks perfect in the loose crop top she has on, her breasts barely hidden. I love the confidence she has in her body, that she doesn’t hide her beauty. She truly is the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen.

“I figured it would be the second-best gift I could give you for your birthday.” She winks at me.

I press my lips to her ear. “I don’t care who is here. Iwilltoss you over my shoulder, take you to our room, and make you scream so loudly everyone on this continent will know when you strangle my cock as you come.”

She shudders in my arms, a beautiful pink blush creeping up her neck.

“Later, baby.” She walks away from me and over to her friends, and I think I detect a little extra sway in her hips.

It’s good to see Kayleigh and Jana here too. Looking to my left, I see Alannah.

“Baby sister.” I pull her in for a hug before she turns to go talk to the girls.

Then I walk to Liam, who’s leaning against the wall, hands shoved in his jean pockets.

“Good to see you smiling, friend.”

“It is, isn’t it? Where are the kids? Joel and Lance didn’t come?” I ask as I look around my kitchen at our mix of friends and family.
