God, it was so fucking beautiful to see Valentyn like this, letting go and giving us the reins even if it was just for a few moments. His groans sifting into the air, mixed with Gianni’s sensual moans were everything to me as I sucked and licked Valentyn’s cock, trying to draw the much-needed release from him.

Gianni grinned as he leaned forward, pinching Valentyn’s nipples once, twice, and three times before his seed was spilling down my throat. He roared around Gianni’s cock, our resident survivalist groaning and letting go as well. We maneuvered until we were lying beside each other, Gianni and I on opposite sides of Valentyn.

The silence continued as we sat there, holding each other as we came down from the high. I leaned over to kiss him. “Better?”

He sighed, his eyes fluttering closed. “Always.”

I had a feeling that Rhys would be the one dragging him out of his head more often than when we would. He had a softer touch that we all fucking craved. He was the missing piece to our little piece of happiness. Gianni shifted on the other side of Valentyn, grumbling about not getting his own kiss. Valentyn grabbed his chin and gave him one too until Gianni was all but humping our protector’s leg.

“We need to get back to the living room, Gia,” I mumbled.

“Fuck, he just got me all hard again.”

Valentyn chuckled. “Later. Paval is going to come looking for us and I guarantee that that little pillow fort isn’t going to hold his attention forever.” He didn’t have to tell me twice. I had almost gotten caught this morning and while Paval absolutely knew his fathers loved each other, it wasn’t a visual I wanted to give him.

Chapter thirteen

LIAM

“Umar,” I said curtly as I entered the office on the 5th level of Hawk International’s France Headquarters. I had been set up in a nearby hotel, the chaos of jetlag and being deposited in a foreign country starting to drag on my energy. I wasn’t even sure what fucking day it was anymore, just that my presence was required to ensure Rhys finished the product.

He still wasn’t answering his messages, even though they were being read.

“Mr. Knight. Wonderful to see you.” The older gentleman stood up and walked around the desk before thrusting his hand out for me to clasp. I did so, waiting for Umar to lead the meeting so that I wasn’t stuck oversharing. He looked just like his son, tall and lean with a mischievous air about him. The only difference was the silver hair Umar was sporting and the few extra wrinkles across his forehead.

He tugged me toward the small lounge in his extravagant office. “Come. Sit. We have much to talk about.”

I raised an eyebrow. The few cryptic texts Umar had sent, as well as the car that had arrived at my hotel, had put me on edge. Walking into this nearly empty building, only greeted by security at the front also made me curious about theheadquartersthat a few of the other employees in the US had boasted about.

My gaze traveled around his office which was in stark contrast with the drab interior of the rest of the building. “Do we have things to talk about? Or is this just a continuation of what I’ve been doing? More babysitting?” I was feeling reckless without Joey at my side. He hadn’t been answering his phone either, ignoring my texts and calls to the point that everything went to voicemail now. I knew he needed time but my anxiety told me that Joey wouldn’t be coming back.

Umar threw his head back and laughed, patting my shoulder several times before he spoke again. “I would not have brought you here if it was merelybabysitting. Rhys has decided that the program would be better if it didn’t exist. Unfortunately, that’s not his choice to make. He also signed a contract. I just need you to give him an extra push.”

Silence wafted between us as he squeezed my shoulder. Pain exploded where his fingers were digging into my skin. “Rhys is being protected by the Kolas crew, something you would know. Penetrating that shield will be almost impossible. I’m pretty sure they’re screening my calls.” I shrugged Umar off, knowing I was on thin ice.

He found my reactions amusing though. “Liam, Liam,Liam, just because your husband left you, doesn’t mean you can speak to me like that. I was going to give you a little leeway in your time of grief but this attitude you’re directing at me is uncalled for. I have done nothing-”

My hands fisted at my side as I faced him fully, trying to weather the expression on my face and hide the rage surging through me. “You threatened me with my husband’s safety, Umar. I’d say I had every reason to be angry with you.”

“It is not my fault that you chose to spill your work life to him, nor is his reaction my fault. To be honest, had I been in your husband’s shoes, I might have also left you for stringing your brother up to die. How cruel of a person do you have to be in order to do that?” Umar snickered as he made his way back to his desk, reaching for a golden flask. He poured a healthy serving into a decorative flask and then took a sip.

“And yet you’re exploiting me for the very same thing.”

“Because I know you’ll do it, Liam. Threatening your sister would work but with you, you’d just do it, wouldn’t you?” Umar took another swig before walking back toward me. “You’re a good sheep.” A wild, unhinged smile spread across his lips as he patted my shoulder and then spun me toward the door. “Get him to remake the program.”

“Or what?”

“Or I’ll set you on your sister as well to find out why I don’t have the first version of the program in hand.”

I opened my mouth to say something when the door was opened and I was gestured to leave. There was no room for argument as I headed back down the elevator and into the empty lobby. I could tell him that Ada had failed but that would be too easy. I also knew that Rhys wouldn’t answer my calls. However, with a little incentive, maybe Rhys would cave.

The moment I was back in my apartment, I called the one person stupid enough to attempt my plan.

“Why would you be calling?”

“To offer you something you might enjoy.”

He cackled. “Doubt it.”
