“I wouldn’t bounce like that if I were you.”

Kaida stopped, “why?”

“Because it is going to get me hard again.”

Kaida lifted her eyebrows at him, “I’m not exactly complaining.”

Beckett chuckled and pulled her down to lay next to him again. This time, he buried his nose into the crook of her neck. “I love that you smell like me now.”

Kaida brushed her fingers through his hair. She loved hearing that it made him happy, but something nagged in her mind. “Are the other three going to be pissed that we are mated now? Like officially?”

“I don’t care if they are pissed. You aremine, Kaida. They are going to have to get used to that. Like I said, I will build us a new home if I have to if that means you will stay with me. The Great Dragon made you for me. No one will take you from me. If they try, I’ll burn down everything to keep you.”

The fierceness of his words made her smile. It made her heart swell with joy knowing how possessive he was of her. Thoughts of Enzo sounding similar popped into her mind, and for the first time, there was barely any noticeable pain from their severed bond.

“I love you.”

The words fell out of her mouth before she could even think of how he might respond. She had never said those words in her life outside of her parents. Beckett’s reaction of staring at her, occasionally blinking, for a few moments made her want to punch herself. The last thing she wanted was to mess up this moment.

And it looks like I did. UGH!

“You love me?”

Beckett’s unsureness made Kaida’s heart feel like it was being ripped into two. Hopefulness flooded through their bond as Beckett waited for her to answer.

He has never heard those words… has he?

“I can feel it, how we fit together. The Great Dragon may have made a mistake before, but I can feel inside of this bond that it’s not a mistake. For the first time, I really can feel my dragon, too. You gave that to me. So yes, I love you.”

“I love you, Kaida. More than you’ll ever know.”

The kiss started off soft, almost like he would break her if he pressed any harder. Kaida found herself weaving her arms around his neck and bringing herself as close as she possibly could get. Beckett pulling her into him more and rolling her onto her back as he deepened the kiss told her everything she needed to know.

She felt his hardness pressing at her entrance once again. Kaida wiggled herself into position, silently thanking the Great Dragon for giving her another chance.

Thank you. I won’t mess it up this time.

Twenty-Eight

Blaze

The moment the orange glow of the sun rising woke Blaze up as it came through his window. The warmth of the rays filtering through the glass made him hum as it fed into his magic. The boost from it gave him the energy he needed to get out of bed. It sucked sometimes being an Ember Dragon for this reason. When the sun rose for the day, so did they due to how Elemental Dragon’s magick worked. With him needing fire to replenish his magic, the sun was a good way to fill up the well inside of him. The only good part about it was that he could create a fire if he had enough magick left, and the fire he started could fill his well.

Storm Dragons being more powerful, my ass. I could light them on fire and replenish my magick while watching them burn.

Without caring too much about his experience since today was supposed to be another day of training with Kaida, Blaze threw on a loose-fitted t-shirt and jeans. He walked down the stairs and into the kitchen to search for something to eat. He shuddered as he opened a cabinet and only pots and pans were inside of it. Blaze’s dragon let out a throaty chuckle at the memory of the last time he tried to make himself food.

Shut up. I at least cooked for myself.

And had to clean up every wall and surface because of how badly it went.

At least I know I don’t need no chick to cook me a meal.

The Ember Dragon growled at the remark,it is a blessing to be given a mate.NOTa death sentence.

Blaze ignored him as he opened another cabinet above the refrigerator to find some sugary cereal. As he bowled himself a bowl of Lord Munch and Berries, a cereal he had eaten since he was a kid, Blaze thought of how Kaida nearly killed them with just a blast from her magick. It didn’t make much sense to him whether her magick was purple or that powerful before her dragon even emerged. There was no report that he had ever read where those two things aligned in history.

How the hell can she be so powerful when she is Grounded?
