"Y'all aren't even asking the right questions," Remy announced. "What the hell is going to happen in that house when you move in and three of the people you are living with try to kill you?!"

"They won't try to kill me!"

Remy chortled at her, "Yeah, right. Things aren't just going to settle down because you move in. Mark my words, Kaida, they are going to up their game. They aren't just going to suddenlystop hating you because you are dating their best friend. Hatred doesn't work that way. It doesn't magically disappear."

"That doesn't mean her mate won't step up and ensure her safety. Each one of them is powerful by themselves. Beckett can hold his own, especially since he has power over water. He can use ice to shut everyone up! Just slap ice over their mouth and call it a day," Azulia responded.

Remy narrowed her eyes, "There are three against one. Beckett may be strong, but not strong enough to keep all three of them off her if they all attack at once."

The girls continued to banter amongst themselves. Kaida wondered if everything they said was true. Would three of them gang up on Beckett because he was defending her? Would they try to kill her even though she was Beckett's mate and lived with them? Yes, they were quite relentless in their training. However, Kaida didn't think they were so evil as to kill their best friend's mate.

But now you have me. It won't be so easy to kill you now.

"It isn't three against one anyway. I have my dragon. A powerful dragon at that. I may not know how to wield my power all that well... But I do know my dragon will keep me alive. She is stronger than they are and will shift to protect me."

"Kaida has a point. She isn't alone. Dragons are fiercely protective of their human halves. I've heard of some controlling the shifts and slaughtering an army to save their human half. It's not just possessive of their mates and treasure." Sundrei pointed out and gave Kaida an encouraging smile. "I'm behind whatever you choose, Kaida. Give them hell if they give you a hard time. If things get too sticky, just give us a call."

Azulia and Adrien agreed and apologized for not saying the same thing sooner. Remy put her arms across her chest and sunk down further into the couch, clearly upset she didn’t get her way.

"Well, Rem. What do you say about this?"

"I say if those assholes attack you again, I am going to neuter them and feed them their own testicles."

Everyone laughed, and the other three girls agreed. Adrien realized this meant that they would need to help Kaida pack up her things to take back with her and get the other girls to join in. She spent the rest of the day doing just that with her friends. Things were going great until Azulia mentioned she heard something that she thought she should share.

Arlo and Esen were talking about her while they were in town.

And it wasn't about how much they hated her.

In fact... more like the opposite.

I’m sorry…What now?

Hearing the sound of something going through the wall aroused Arlo from his sleep. A groan escaped his lips when Blaze's roar rattled the house. He knew exactly what that roar meant. If he stayed inside the house tonight, he was not going to have a good day. Blaze was pissed about something.

But what else is new?

Arlo heard the sound of his door opening, and Esen's blonde-haired head poked inside. "Want to get out of here?"

"Fuck yeah. I am not dealing with this today."

Arlo practically leaped off the bed and rummaged through his closet and drawers to put on clothes. Sometimes, he truly wished he were a Warlock instead so that he would be able to use his magic to get dressed each day. Thoughts of “being a peasant” had gone through his mind while pulling his clothes on himself and made him smirk, especially since it was a simple outfit, too: just a pair of dark-washed jeans and a hunter-green tee since the most he planned to do was walk around town and avoid Blaze at all costs.

Because if he is destroying the house, it is best just to leavehim alone.

Arlo was in Esen's room shortly after. The Breeze Dragon was looking at himself in the mirror. Arlo always managed to walk in on this guy checking himself out; it had become their little secret. Esen tried to play it off many times so that he didn’t appear that into himself. He used to believe Esen. However, when this started happening on a weekly basis, Arlo realized that Esen was a bit egotistical. Despite this, Esen had chosen a simple outfit like Arlo: jeans and a white tee. Arlo wasn't even sure why Esen felt like looking in the mirror for this long with such a low-maintenance ensemble.

"Dude, you aren't that pretty."

Esen jumped, and Arlo smiled. It was always fun when one of them got the jump on another, especially on a Shifter like them. Heightened sense of hearing didn't get anyone anywhere if they weren't paying attention.

"Shut up. I wasn't sure if I looked good in white. I was even debating if it was a good idea. It's so hard to keep white clean."

Arlo shook his head, "Sometimes I am concerned about you."

"I'm not that bad!"

"Sure. You ready or not?"
