"Because this is just like out of a romcom," he says with a big smile on his face. "Enemies to lovers trope!"

When that's met with a blank stare from both Dunlop and me, he goes on, "You like him but you have this huge obstacle between you, which makes you unsure about your feelings. Given your family's situation and a few of the details Dun's filled me in on, I'd guess you're struggling with whether you can trust Col or not. Am I right?"

"Scarily so."

I pull out my phone to order us another round of drinks. Robbie's accuracy is freakishly spot on, and if he keeps going at this rate, I'm going to need more booze.

"Just trust me when I say, I know how this story ends."

I look over at Dunlop, who shrugs, looking just as confused as I am.

"Oh, do you now?" he asks his husband.

Robbie nods excitedly. "I do. This is what's going to happen," he stage-whispers to Dunlop but loud enough that I can hear. "They'll dislike each other for a little while, but it's not really real, because underneath the surface, they have arealattraction, realpassion, realconnection. And despite all their best efforts to suppress, ignore, or avoid them, thoserealfeelings will keep bubbling to the surface. And look, I don't know anything aboutCol, but if Wilby's a friend of yours, I'm guessing he's ultra stubborn and competitive?"

Dunlop smirks. "Correct."

"Right, okay." Robbie rubs his chin, like he's running something over in his head. "His stubborn and competitive streak will probably add a little time to this process. It'd be quicker and easier if he wasn't, but, hey, I'm not here to change anyone."

No. Just freak them the fuck out.Get out of my head, dude.

"Eventually, one or both of them will come to their senses, and they'll see what everyone around them has been seeing all along."

"Enlighten me," I say, gratefully accepting the tray of drinks that have arrived at our table.

"Let me put it this way, we need to be on standby, baby."

"Why's that?" Dunlop asks.

Robbie's blue eyes twinkle as he smiles at me. "Because there's going to be a wedding!"

A few hours later, as I'm tucking my drunk arse into bed at my hotel, I chuckle as I think about Robbie's remarks. I know we were just joking around and everything, but something he said did strike a chord.

I do want to get married. And while we're at it, I'd like to have kids, too. Loving Bridge and Kolby as much as I do excites me because I wonder how much more epic it would be with my own brood. I can just imagine three or four mini Wilbys—or Wilbyesses—running around and playing in the backyard while Col and I sit and watch them from the back verandah.

Whoa. Shit.

I mean, me and whoever I'm co-parenting with sitting on the verandah.

Doesn't have to be Col. It probably won't be Col. Don't know why he popped into my head. I must be drunker than I realise.

But now that he is in my head… I pick up my phone.

Don't worry, don't worry, I'm not going to make a total fool out of myself.

Wilby:I'm horny.

Just a partial one.

Col:So what's new?

Wilby:Don't s'pose I could interest you in a round of phone sex?

Col:You think I'm just going to drop everything I'm doing… Grrr, who am I kidding? Are you calling me, or am I calling you?

"Attaboy," I say to myself with a chuckle.

Wilby:I'll call you. But before I do… Truce?
