I took a moment to admire it before smiling up at him and said, “I guess I should get dressed then.”

His eyes dropped to the robe and then raised back to my face. “That would be best. I don’t think the people of this city are prepared to see so much of you just yet.”

He winked, turned, and walked out of my room.

I sagged forward, hand reaching out to catch myself on the chair and took a shuddering breath. I had never met someone who was simultaneously intoxicating and terrifying and also made me think so many naughty things before.

Glancing down, I realized that my robe had slipped and had exposed a lot of my cleavage and had opened around my leg, showing off one of my thighs. Now his comment made sense.

With a burning face, I quickly got dressed and hurried downstairs to meet the others.

Chapter

Eighteen

They had reserved the whole of the hotel’s restaurant, so we were the only ones inside. It was a bit surreal, but also really nice not to worry about the annoying gazes of others. Plus, it meant our food came quickly and our drinks were always filled.

Nico had left before I arrived, important king business to take care of, so it was Caleb, Riddick, Branson, Kieran, Triston, Percival, and I sitting around a large rectangular table in the middle of the restaurant.

I sat between Riddick and Caleb, silent as I watched everyone smiling, laughing, and interacting together. It felt so normal and yet it was the most I’d seen Branson and Kieran smile … ever.

Was it the effect of having Caleb here?

Honestly, with so many alphas in one spot, I’d thought it would be a problem, but it definitely wasn’t.

Riddick leaned over and whispered in my ear, “So, did you accept his proposal?”

I nodded and my finger instantly touched the bracelet on my opposite wrist.

He purred and kissed my cheek. “Wonderful.”

“You’re not jealous?” I asked, turning to look at him and feeling my cheeks burning with a blush.

Riddick smirked. “Sweetheart, when I met you, you already had several men vying for your attention. As long as I can be part of your life, have your attention focused on me on occasion as well, I’m not going to complain. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there are a lot of males versus females and it’s becoming more and more common for us to share mates. Even our royals are prime examples of that.”

He wasn’t wrong.

“Plus, now that you are part of our group, I’ll get to see you often and don’t have to worry about you being in the woods all by yourself.”

Triston said something that pulled Riddick’s attention away from me and I took the time to catch my breath, my pulse hammering pretty hard.

Caleb set a hand on my leg and patted gently.

In seconds, my heart slowed and I relaxed into my seat.

After filling my stomach with far too much food, I felt my eyes growing heavy, a food coma imminent. “If you gentlemen will excuse me, I think it’s time for me to go to bed.”

“You did have quite an eventful day,” Caleb said with a smile, though I saw the corners of his eyes slightly pinched. “Do you want me to call a healer to check you over?”

I shook my head. “Thank you, but I just need a good night’s rest and I’ll be right as rain tomorrow.”

He nodded and stood as I did. Everyone else stood as well, making my cheeks heat once again.

“Before you go,” Kieran said and hugged me. “Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I’m returning to my family tomorrow morning, so I wanted to say goodbye now.”

I squeezed him and smiled. “I wish you the best for your future.”

“You as well. Stay safe,” he looked at the men around us and whispered, “though it seems you’re in good hands so I don’t have to worry too much about you.”
