She laughed, draped an arm around my shoulders, and said, “It’s my favorite part of the morning. They’re warming up first, so let’s grab a muffin and hot chocolate first. It’s nippy outside and the hot chocolate will help.”

“I really appreciate your hospitality. Your home is lovely, and you’ve all been very kind.”

“I have to say, I was a bit surprised by your appearance,” she said.

I looked down at my jeans and t-shirt, a similar outfit to her own, and then back up at her.

She laughed and shook her head. “Not your attire, sorry, but you being here. Caleb’s never been interested in girls, so seeing him act like he did last night was startling. Normally, he’s respectful but disinterested, but with you it’s obvious there are sparks.”

My face grew hot, which made her smile.

“No need to be embarrassed.” We entered the dining room and I froze when I realized King Daniel, Queen Kara, King Katar, and several alpha males were inside.

Princess Jolie paused beside me. “It takes some getting used to, but it does get easier. I promise.” Taking a step forward, she said, “Thor, Declan, Kylan, please come introduce yourselves to our guest.”

The three alpha males who had been chatting standing behind the royals walked over obediently. Two of them were identical twins and definitely not mages. All three bowed to me, which had my eyes widening and darting to Princess Jolie, who just winked at me.

“Good morning, I’m Thor,” the one on the left, a tall blonde-haired man said and gave me a soft smile.

“I’m Declan. This is Kylan,” one of the twins said.

“They’re three of Leona’s mates,” Princess Jolie explained. “The fourth is dealing with some business elsewhere but should be coming by later.”

Leona had multiple mates as well?

“I-It’s nice to meet you. I’m Ember.”

“You’re courting Caleb?” Thor asked.

My eyes widened and I looked at Princess Jolie.

She smiled softly. “He told us last night.”

Oh.

“I suppose I am,” I admitted. “Everything’s happened so fast it seems a bit surreal.”

“Welcome to life with royalty,” Thor said.

King Daniel growled and Thor flinched.

“No offense intended.”

“Dan, no growling,” Princess Jolie said and set her hand on my arm, making me realize I had taken a step back at his growl. “He’s a softie, don’t worry.”

“Don’t be telling everyone that,” King Daniel said with a frown.

She stuck her tongue out at him before taking my hand and leading me over to the table, where muffins and breakfast sandwiches waited.

I grabbed a breakfast sandwich and took a huge bite, sighing happily as sausage and cheese melted on my tongue.

“How are you feeling this morning?” Queen Kara asked.

After chewing quickly and swallowing my bite, I admitted, “I haven’t tried to access my powers yet.” Flinching, I admitted, “I’m a bit nervous to try.”

“Did you sleep well?” she asked.

I nodded. “The mattress is much more comfortable than the one I had.”
