“Not if I can help it,” he said and squeezed me.

That was definitely the answer I wanted to hear.

Chapter

Twenty-Eight

The mall we went to was huge and there were a ton of people there. I thought we might get mobbed, showing up with the prince and all, but Caleb was prepared and put a hat and glasses on to disguise himself.

Somehow, he also toned down his alpha presence to barely perceivable.

It was my first time visiting a mall and I felt like a kid in a candy store. Caleb, Riddick, and Ezio followed me, ensuring we were safe and giving me space to explore and shop to my content.

After three hours, all four of us were carrying at least two bags each.

“Sorry, I think I’m done now,” I said as I paid for some underwear and bras.

“Don’t apologize, you lost all your items in the explosion, so it’s natural that you’d want a bunch of new things,” Riddick said.

“We still need to get you a phone,” Caleb reminded me. “The store is just around the corner.”

We started in that direction, but a beautiful, shiny, red dress with crystals along the low-plunging neckline had me stopping in the middle of the walkway.

Caleb grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the way of an approaching family and their stroller.

“Sorry,” I said and winced. He led me into the store and I pulled him to a stop. “Oh, we don’t need to go in.”

“You want to try that dress on and I want to see you in it,” he said. “Come on.”

“I don’t have any place I could wear it,” I countered.

“As my girlfriend, you are going to be attending events with me that will require dresses this nice and some even fancier. Trust me, there will definitely be a place you can wear this.”

A woman with a friendly smile walked over, her hands behind her back, and bowed her head. “How can I help you, Your Highness?”

“She’d like to try on the red dress in the window display,” Caleb said and pushed my lower back so I moved towards the dressing rooms.

“Of course, if you’ll step into the dressing room, I will get the dress for you,” she said softly.

I walked into the dressing room, but then stepped back out. “After I try it on, I want to change into one of my new outfits, so I’m not walking around in this any longer.” I tugged at the sweatpants. They were soft, but kept slipping lower on my hips, forcing me to raise them again and again.

“Do you know which outfit?” he asked. “I can pull it out of the bag while you try the dress on.”

“The light blue jeans and the purple t-shirt,” I answered just as the woman came back with the dress draped across her arms.

I stepped into the dressing room to give her access to hang the dress on a hook inside.

“Let me know if it doesn’t fit. I guessed your size and I think it’s accurate, but don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything.”

“Thank you,” I said and smiled.

She pulled the thick, red velvet curtain closed to give me privacy.

Quickly shucking the sweats and tank top off, I unzipped the dress and stepped into it. I’d thought it might be scratchy or uncomfortable, but the material was surprisingly soft and light. The back plunged down low just like the front, but thankfully not enough to show my butt crack. The deep plunge of the front went to just above my belly button and hugged my breasts in a way that made me have more cleavage than I normally would without a bra. It was absolutely gorgeous and I did a quick spin as I looked at myself in the mirror.

“You alright, Ember? Do you need a hand?”

I tossed open the curtain and stepped out, doing a slow spin for him and Riddick.
