King Daniel walked out, his arms spread, and a huge smile on his face. “My boy!” he shouted.

Caleb walked over and hugged his grandfather, both patting each other on the back.

King Daniel pushed him back and held his shoulders. “Saw you fight that dragon earlier. Well done, boy. Well done.” He looked over Caleb’s shoulder and noticed me hovering by the SUV. “Hello, Ember.”

I bowed slightly. “King Daniel.”

“Oh, none of that! Call me Dan.” He waved me closer. “And didn’t my boy tell you not to bow, hm?”

Caleb frowned down at me. “Yes, I did.”

“You’re a king,” I said, as though I needed to remind them. “Not bowing is disrespectful.”

“Rules are different when you’re dating royalty,” Dan said with a soft smile. “It took Jolie a bit to understand as well. I know you wanted to go to the farm, but Natalia has started living with me, which is part of why you stopped here first.”

“With you?” I gaped.

He whistled and a familiar caw sounded in front of us and I watched as Natalia flew out of the front door and over, landing on Dan’s shoulder.

She saw me and cawed loudly, hopping over onto my shoulder, rubbing her head against my cheek.“Em! Em! You’re here!”

Stroking her soft feathers, I felt tears in my eyes. “Yes, Natalia, I’m here.”

“You can hear her?” Dan asked, eyes wide.

“Yes, any animal or shifter in animal form,” I answered. “Are you having fun here?” I asked Natalia.

She bopped her head, her broken beak clacking together.“Fun! Nice man. Lots of snacks!”

“I’m so glad you’re happy here,” I told her and pulled her into my arms to hug her against my chest.

“You see Winnie?”she guessed.

I nodded. “Yes, I’m going to go visit Winnie next.”

“Natalia come, too!”she shouted and cawed so loud I cringed.

Chuckling, I nodded. “Natalia can come too.”

“How very interesting,” Dan murmured as he watched us. “It seems she’s even smarter than I realized.”

“Oh, she’s incredibly smart,” I said. “Makes her get into mischief often, but it’s not usually too bad.”

“Let’s get into the car, it’s a bit of a walk otherwise,” Caleb said and waved me back towards the vehicle.

“Natalia, meet you there,”she said.

I nodded, put her back on my shoulder, and she took flight from there. “She’ll meet us there,” I informed them when Dan gave me an inquisitive look.

Climbing in the SUV, I realized that neither Riddick nor Ezio had gotten out.

Riddick handed me my new cell phone in its shiny new case. “It’s all set up and everyone’s numbers are in there. I also created a group chat with Caleb and us so you can message both of us simultaneously. We’ll add the other two once they get on our family plan. I also set your phone up so if you hit the side button three times quickly, it will send out an SOS to Caleb and I with your location.”

Well, that was an interesting safety measure.

Unlocking the phone, I scanned through all the contacts, my eyes wide. They’d added every king, queen, prince, Jolie, Leona, Leona’s mates, and Ezio.

“We wanted to be sure you could get ahold of anyone you needed to,” Caleb explained when he looked over at what I was scrolling through.
