Someone knocked on the door and Ezio peeked through the hole before pulling it open. “She’s ready,” he informed Caleb, who I could see on the other side.

“Great, let’s head out,” Caleb said and stepped back so Ezio could exit.

I grabbed the small bag of touch-up makeup the stylists had given me, and skipped out behind Ezio, barely giving Caleb a second to see my face before I hurried past him and down the hallway.

I did hear the intake of breath, which made me smile wider.

Once in the car, all of the guys stared at me.

“What?” I asked.

“You look great,” Riddick said.

“Thank you.”

“Perhaps we shouldn’t go tonight after all,” Caleb muttered.

“Oh, we’re going,” I said. “I didn’t practice dancing for nothing. Plus, I promised your mom.”

“She’d forgive you,” he said. “I might end up killing someone tonight.”

“You will behave, sir,” Ezio ordered as he glanced in the rear-view mirror.

Caleb muttered something beneath his breath I didn’t catch, but Ezio heard it and laughed while shaking his head.

As soon as Ezio parked, I grabbed my garment back and ran inside the house, ignoring the kings and queens in the front room, and up to Jolie’s room. I knocked twice, just in case her mates were inside with her, but she opened the door and pulled me inside.

“Oh, you look fabulous! Those stylists did great.”

Her own hair and makeup were amazing as well, and I said as much.

She preened at the compliment. “Come on, let’s get your dress on and jewelry. I can’t wait to see what your dress looks like.”

“Wait for me!” Leona yelled as she entered behind us, carrying a large garment bag of her own.

When I slipped my dress on, both women gasped and tears filled Jolie’s eyes. “Oh, honey, you look amazing!”

“Sexy!” Leona said and whistled.

A blush spread across my face while I smiled. “Thank you.”

Leona’s dress was sexy, too, while Jolie’s was more elegant than sexy and yet she was still stunning in it.

Jolie put the necklace she’d offered me on and we all stared in shock at the perfect color match and how well it suited the dress.

“It’s perfect, thank you, Jolie.”

She smiled. “You’re welcome, hon’. Now, let’s finish up and go upstairs to strut in front of our mates and potential mates.” She winked at me and Leona chuckled.

“Does it get easier?” I asked.

Both turned to me.

“Accepting that multiple men want you so much? It seems like a fantasy … a great one, but almost unbelievable.”

“It does get easier, but it also takes a lot of work. No matter what you might think, I can see they are genuinely interested in you. Whether that becomes permanent or not isn’t certain, but know that those men are one hundred percent interested and should be proving that to you every single day.”

“And if they don’t, tell them. Some men are more reserved in their affections, like my Silverowl. He loves me, and I know it now, but he shows me through acts. It will take you time to discover what kind of love languages you each have and that’swhat dating is all about! Test each other, see if it’s truly going to work.” She stepped forward and gripped my hands with her own. “And if it’s not going to work, there is no shame in admitting that. We will not shun or hate you if you discover your path isn’t meant to stay here. Okay? You just be you. That’s all anyone can ask of you.”
