Mikhail:
Shame.
“Who are you talking to?”
I got a huge shock and almost dropped my cell phone on the floor when I realized that Manuela was next to me. My heart almost came out of my mouth, and I almost lost my balance.
“Nobody.” I tried to hide it by putting my cell phone in my pocket.
“I saw you on the messaging app.”
“No, you didn’t.” I pursed my lips.
“It's a guy.”
“Of course not!”
“Then why won't you tell me?”
“I was just asking some questions about anatomy. After today's class I needed to clarify some issues.”
“Oh!” She looked at me and didn't seem at all convinced by my lame excuse.
“Do you want to talk to my teacher too?” I held up the cell phone to her, I actually had it in the messaging app, but I hoped she wouldn't want it, as she would definitely see Mikhail's texts.
“No. I was just curious.” She pushed the cell phone back to me. “You can continue to clear up your doubts.”
“I think I'm going to take a shower. It will soon be dark, and everyone should arrive for dinner.” I closed the book that was on my lap and stood up.
“No need to run away.”
“I am fine.” I smiled at my cousin and tried hard not to run away.
If I wanted to keep hiding this insane situation, I would need to make better excuses and not look like a crazy person every time someone approached me and asked what I was doing.
I went to my room and hurried to lock the door before throwing the book on the bed and taking my cell phone back.
Mikhail:
They want to introduce me to brides.
Pietra, are you there?
Pietra:
They almost caught me texting you.
If they find out, I'm done for.
Mikhail:
Then don’t let them find out.
Pietra:
You don’t seem to care about the consequences.
Mikhail:
