“Hey!” I waved at her.

“Hey!” She smiled back.

“I think it's time for lunch, shall we go down?”

“Just let me wash my hands.” She waved, showing her fingers and palms dirty with clay.

“Okay.”

I followed my sister as she walked down the hall, heading to the bathroom.

“What did you do today?”

“I was messing around with clay sculptures.”

“Sounds like fun.”

“It is. What about you?”

“I was learning how blood is pumped through the body.”

“Are you still in the circulatory system?”

“Yes.”

“It also sounds interesting.”

“It is.” I crossed my arms around my body and gave a slight smile. “My professor said that after we study all the systems and organs, I will be able to dissect a mouse.”

“Ew!” She made a face and I laughed.

“Why don't you dissect a real person?”

I turned around when I heard my brother's voice. Dante was holstering his gun and running a hand through his black hair. He was wearing a dark shirt and pants, but it wasn't enough to completely disguise the blood splatters. I didn't ask questions, because the answer would always be the same:I was taking care of business.

I needed to take what my mother said about ignorance seriously and not think so much about the reasons why that blood ended up there.

“I think I'll have the opportunity to do it when my studies advance.”

“I want to be there at that moment.” He laughed as if he was having fun.

“Well done, Dante.” Uncle Theo appeared behind him and squeezed his shoulder, making my brother look at him and smile at him.

“Thanks.”

“Go take a shower.” Aunt Tatiane appeared in the hallway and looked seriously at both of them. “I don't want you like that at the lunch table.”

“Everything is fine, love.” Theo went towards her and gave her a kiss.

I laughed when my aunt made a face and pushed him by the shoulders.

“Go take shower.”

“Don't you want to come with me?” He smiled mischievously at his wife, who shrank back in embarrassment.

“Uncle,” my brother scolded him and approached us, pulling our wrists to move us away, as if he wanted to spare us from the direction the conversation between the couple was taking. “I think you two better go downstairs now.”

“Dante.” I tried to break away from him.
