He pulls her hands from her grip, discomfort clear in the twist of his mouth. It’s not the letting go she meant. ‘You look—’

‘Ridiculous? Free? Childish? Like I’m having a hell of a good time?’

‘All those things.’

‘And don’t it feel good. Here.’ She grabs his hand and places it over her racing heart. ‘My adrenaline is up, my body is loose and I feel like I can take over the world! That’s exactly the energy you want for your presentation.’

‘I’m not sure.’

‘Come on. There’s no one else here. I don’t care what you look like.’

Cameron’s facial expression does an odd twitch and jump. ‘You don’t?’

‘No. So come on. No excuses. It’s just you and me, here.’

Jules isn’t sure what it is about her encouragement, but one second, Cameron’s motionless, and the next he’s jumping up and down like he’s in the mosh pit at a festival.

Jules laughs, clapping her hands furiously. Whatever energy is pumping in Cameron’s veins, she wants some of it. The smile on his face, growing bigger every second, pressing those swoon-worthy dimples into his cheeks, makes her whole body come alive, tingling all over.

‘Yes. Yes! That’s fantastic.’

She jumps up and down with him, fist-pumping and clapping along with the chorus, spinning on the spot and even throwing in a terrible attempt at a high-kick which has Cameron doubling over to laugh.

They get through the entire song, laughing like they’re high. Cameron’s hair loses any semblance of order and Jules may be getting sweat patches under her arms, but it’s infectious. This moment – she’s going to take it all the way to her grave.

The song eventually segues into another, and Jules winds down her dancing. Cameron wraps her in a massive hug and lifts her clear off her feet, swinging her around until she’s laughing and dizzy.

‘Now, lay it on me!’ Jules says.

Cameron drops her to his feet and seals his lips to hers, kissing her with the same fervour he’s just been dancing with. There’s a lot of tongue, and some playful nibbling of her lips. Jules’s knees wobble, making her glad for Cameron’s arms still locked tight around her back, squishing their flushed bodies together.

Jules’s focus shatters into dozens of pieces and it takes, oh, four entire minutes of kissing before she remembers the point of the dance break was not to get them in the mood, but to help Cameron loosen up for the presentation.

Reluctantly, after one more suck of his lower lip, she pushes against his shoulders.

He pulls back only enough to press their foreheads together. His hair is a mess and his skin has a sheen of sweat that Jules wants to lick off.

‘That’s …’ Jules presses her fingers to her tingling lips, laughing. ‘That’s not what I meant.’

‘You said lay one on me.’

‘I said lay it on me.’

‘Oh. In that case.’ Cameron scoops her up easily and carries her across to the bed, dropping her onto it before crawling on top of her and letting his body press hers into the mattress.

Jules gyrates her hips against his body. It’s a natural, subconscious reaction to Cameron but she stops after two, okay, five thrusts.

‘Also not what I meant.’

‘I know.’ Cameron grins like a kid on Christmas morning.

Jules stopping her own movements means nothing because Cameron’s got his own rub-and-circle manoeuvre going on. She’s only just repaired her focus. She wants to provide support for him like he did for her, but with every shift of his hips against her pulsing clit, it’s harder to remember that.

Jules grabs his biceps to push him back but her arms pull him closer instead. ‘We’re meant to be working on your public speaking.’

‘By relaxing my body. You know what’s really good for that?’ Cameron plays dirty, leaning close to her ear and dropping his voice low. ‘Sex.’

Jules shivers. Her nipples, already hard, get somehow tighter, pebbling beneath the cups of her bra. ‘Cameron. We’re meant to be working on your confidence.’
