"Shut the hell up and get into the van."

The second shifter runs over to the van that is parked beside the building. The one holding me starts to drag me to the door. Adrenaline starts coursing through me, making me buck and pull at my attacker. I think I heard that if kidnappers get you into a vehicle, your chances of survival diminish, so I pull and twist in his grip to try and destabilize him, but he's strong, and my attempts are fruitless. I hear the door of the van open, and the dark hole that waits for me consumes my vision. My knee hits the bottom of the door, and I cry out through the gag. Just as I am expecting the first shifter to shove me into the van, I am dropped, and gravity pulls my weight to the ground.

I roll over, pulling the gag out of my mouth to see Liam punching the first shifter in the face.

"How dare you touch my fucking mate!"

The first shifter doesn't stand a chance. Liam punches him several times in the face; blood covers his hands, and the face is unrecognizable. Suddenly, Liam twists his head, breaking his neck, the sick sound of breaking bone filling the air.

I'm frantically looking around, trying to find the second shifter, but Thorn walks around the front of the vehicle from the driver's side where the other shifter is. Liam turns to me and rushes over, his hands frantically waving over my body, looking at my injuries. He picks me up bridal-style and hugs me close to him.

"Sunshine. Are you okay?! I am so sorry I didn't get here sooner." He's kissing the top of my head while I hold him closely, too.

"I'm okay, I'm okay." My heart is still beating fast, but his arms are a comforting place, helping me to calm down.

Suddenly, a scream rips through the air; I whip my head around and see Thorn leaning over shifter two with his wrist bent the wrong way. I should feel bad for him, but I don't.

"You think you're so tough, two against one, dragging an innocent woman away against her will?" Thorn takes his other wrist and snaps it, too. He screams again, but not for long, because Thorn shoves the same gag that was in my mouth into his. The second shifter is whimpering on the ground; Thorn is kneeling menacingly above him.

"You have one chance to answer my question. One. If you do it well, I might be nice." I'm not sure Thorn's version of nice is what this guy is thinking. Thorn pulls the gag out of his mouth and asks, "Why were you taking Paige?"

The shifter is panting and struggling to form words, but somehow, he manages to do it. "Mic wants her as his mate. I don't know why. All we were told was to grab her here at the motel and bring her to him. Mic likes control, and when things are outside of his control, he gets pissed."

Thorn snarls at him and smashes him in the head, knocking him unconscious.

"He deserved more pain," Liam seethes.

"He'll get it. Take Paige inside. I have some silver chains to tie this guy up." He looks over at the other shifter on the ground, head twisted at an awkward angle. "I guess I only need to use one set."

Liam nods and walks away, me in his arms. We make it into the room, Liam locking the door behind us. He gently places me on the bed and goes to grab a cloth to clean up the dirt on my hands. I don't have any open wounds, but my body does ache. Liam is kneeling beside me, wiping my hands, when it dawns on me…I might be pregnant. My breathing catches, and Liam notices.

"What's wrong? Is there somewhere else you're hurt?" I shake my head and look into his eyes. "Then tell me what's wrong."

I try to gather my thoughts; this is ridiculous. There is no telling if I am or not, but Quinn said I was, and that I would be pregnant at the baby's birth; maybe I'm not, though, maybe I will be later? I don't know. This is all overwhelming, but I should tell Liam. He has a right to know.

"It's just, well, I…" I shake my head, trying to find the right words.

"It's okay, babe; whatever it is, you can tell me." He cups my face, gently centering my racing mind.

"It's just. Before we left Twilight Meadows, Quinn had a vision…" Liam looks at me, encouraging me to go on. "She had a vision that I was pregnant."

Liam's face freezes, and a small smile creeps up on his face. "Are you serious? Is she sure? Are you saying you know now that you're pregnant?"

"I-I don't know; I mean, it's impossible to know right now. We just started having sex, and there is no way to tell conventionally that I am! What if she is wrong? Or worse, what if she is right, and something happened in the struggle? Is the baby all right?"

Tears are pouring out of my eyes. I know it's not confirmed, but I love the idea that I'm carrying our little one, even if it's all new.

"Shh, shh, shh. It's okay, sunshine." He kisses my forehead and leans into me. "Whatever happens, we will face it together. I know Quinn's abilities are still unknown, and she doesn't know how they work exactly, but is it selfish of me to say I hope she's right?"

I pull away and look into his eyes.

"I hope she's right, too," I whisper.

He kisses me gently, softly. "You really want to have a family with me, sunshine? You won't regret it?"

My heart breaks; I haven't given him any confirmation that I am sticking around for good. I place my hands on either side of his face and make sure he is listening.

"Liam, I love you. There has never been anyone who has compared to you. I would be honored to carry your children and thrilled to build a family with you." An invisible weight is lifted off of his shoulders, and he breathes deeply with my declaration.
