Jackson’s breath caught before he blew it out slowly.

Finn slipped the padded cuffs around the wrists that he still held captive.

“What—” Jackson’s gaze dropped to the cuffs.

Finn fastened one. “Safe word?”

“Gr-green.”

Was Jackson nervous? He should be. Finn would never physically hurt Jackson, but the boy would not be comfortable for a while. Finn closed the other cuff before tugging on the chain between them.

“You know how to get out of these. What word to say. Say it and I’ll release you.”

Jackson nodded.

“Do you have anything to say?”

“What are you doing?”

That wouldn’t do. “You can say your safe word or nothing at all.”

Pressing his lips together, Jackson narrowed his eyes, but he wasn’t fighting Finn. Not that Finn expected Jackson to fight or question him. Jackson needed Finn to prove that he would always be there.

“Let’s go.” He walked Jackson to the passenger seat and opened the door.

Jackson looked from him to the raised seat.

“Figure it out, boy,” Finn managed. Damn, it was harder than he thought watching Jackson struggle. Jackson was usually so cocky about everything, but something was different tonight. He was too quiet. None of his usual cockiness. Maybe he really had been planning on leaving. He probably was but something had stopped him. Hopefully, it was that he couldn’t leave Finn and Michael behind.

Once Jackson was settled in the passenger seat, Finn leaned over him and grabbed his chin, forcing Jackson to meet his gaze.

He searched Jackson’s eyes and saw the vulnerability that he was expert at hiding.

“It’s going to be okay. I’ve got you.”

Jackson opened his mouth but instead of responding, he just nodded.

So, Jackson could follow directions. That was good. Even better that Jackson wanted to follow Finn’s orders. For reward, Finn kissed Jackson deeply and passionately until Jackson was straining to get closer.

Finn eased out of the kiss before he clicked Jackson’s seatbelt in place. They’d discuss the helmet later. Actually, they would be discussing Jackson riding a Harley at all. Now that Finn had his boy back, he didn’t want anything happening to Jackson. And he was not going to allow Michael anywhere near that bike.

He backed off, pleased when Jackson’s heat-filled gaze followed. Once he closed the passenger door, Finn had to adjust the erection trapped behind the zipper of his jeans. It would be a while until any of them got off again. Finn wouldn’t repeat his mistake from the night before. They were going to talk.

Hurrying around the truck, Finn checked that the bike was tied down properly although he should have known that Jackson would have been thorough. Satisfied, he continued to the driver’s side and opened the door. He climbed behind the wheel, expecting Jackson to start peppering him with questions, but Jackson didn’t say a word. Just sat calmly in his seat.

Finn wished he could see better in the dark interior of his truck. He wanted to watch Jackson closely, to make sure he was doing alright, but they would be at the cabin soon enough.

He clicked his own safety belt in place before putting his truck in gear. Finn straightened the wheels then headed farther away from town. Beside him, Jackson shifted in his seat and even glanced over his shoulder back toward town, but Finn didn’t tell them where they were headed.

Now was the perfect time for Jackson to contemplate how he’d gotten into this position.

Finn reached over and flicked on the radio before he started to hum along with the song. He could feel the anticipation in the air and the sensation prickled along his nerves.

Chapter Eight

Jackson

He didn’t expect Finn to pull onto a dirt road that seemed to come out of nowhere. There were no signs or anything to tell Jackson where they were headed. He flexed his hands and smiled. Finn had no idea that Jackson had been out of the cuffs within minutes of them being put on him. By the time Finn had double checked that Jackson had secured his bike properly, Jackson had already slipped his hands free. Not that he had let Finn know. Oh, that would come later and then the fun would begin.
