“I smelt the paint first.” Joe shook his head. “I’m so sorry.”

Finn nodded but turned to Grant.

“The alarm wasn’t set, and it appears that someone jimmied open the back door. I’ve already had the crime scene techs here for fingerprints. I’m hoping that you can get something off the outside cameras.”

“I can. If my laptop is still in the office, I can pull it up now. If not, once I get to a computer, I’ll download it for you.”

“Boss…” Joe said quietly.

“Joe, go home. You are not in trouble. I would have done the same thing. We all would have done the same. We were set up. We’ll get to the bottom of it.”

Joe nodded. He didn’t seem convinced.

Finn glanced at his assistant manager, Trey. “Get him home. Make sure he’s okay.”

“Of course.” Trey tugged Joe away from them.

Grant finished his coffee. He glanced at Michael. “Are you all going up?”

He was asking Michael. Michael nodded. He might not want to know how bad it was, but he did want to see.

Jackson pulled Michael close. “We’re fine. Let’s go.”

Finn strode toward the stairs with Grant behind him, Michael and Jackson bringing up the rear. Michael was glad that he had Jackson to hold on to as he stepped through the doorway of the office.

He couldn’t help his gasp.

The entire room had been torn apart. What had been neatly stacked and placed on the desk was now broken or ripped and scattered around the room. The couch cushion padding looked like snow on the floor. Lamps were broken, furniture turned over, but the red spray paint was the worst.

On every available wall space and the glass was written one word. Over and over.

MINE

“What the actual fuck?” Jackson growled.

That was what Michael wanted to know. He glanced over at Daddy Finn.

Finn stood in the middle of the mess, rubbing the back of his head and frowning. He didn’t appear as upset as he was confused.

“I hate to ask this,” Grant said after clearing his throat. “But I need to know everyone you’ve been involved with recently.”

Finn flapped his hand.

It might be the first time ever that he’d seen Daddy Finn at a loss for words.

“There isn’t anyone other than me and Michael,” Jackson said. “And we’ve been with Finn for the last week out of town.”

Grant nodded. “I understand that but—”

“No!” Jackson barked. “I can guarantee you that there hasn’t been anyone else.”

There hadn’t been. Michael would know. He worked at the club and since before Jackson had come around, Finn hadn’t hooked up with anyone else. Michael paid very close attention to that.

“There must—” Grant started but Finn held up a hand.

“It’s been over a year and a half since I even had a one-night stand,” Finn said quietly. “And that was out of town. It’s only been Michael and Jackson. I swear.”

Michael let go of Jackson’s hand and rushed forward. “We know.” He pulled Finn’s face down with his hands on Finn’s cheeks. “We know.”
