“Almost, baby. I still need to determine who betrayed us.”

Her eyes opened wide. “I know who it is.”

“Okay. Tell me who.”

She backed away, taking my hand. “Let me show you.”

I motioned to Miguel and both he and Alicia followed us into another room.

“I found this just seconds before I saw Rico again,” Georgia said, pressing the space bar on the laptop.

As both Miguel and I peered down at the screen, another moment of rage swept through me. I glanced at my brother who nodded in understanding. The fucker had been keeping Rico informed all along. I shifted through a few additional emails, realizing they were friends.

“He was in Rico’s house. I remember seeing him once,” she said, as if I needed any additional information.

“Miguel. Stay here with the ladies and children,” I told him.

“Where are you going?” Georgia asked.

“To right a wrong, baby. Trust me. I won’t me long.” It never did take very long to erase a traitor from this world. I knew exactly where the fucker was going. The only question that remained was why Andres had betrayed me and my entire family.

In the end, it wouldn’t matter.

The fucker would soon be dead.

CHAPTER 29

Sabatino

There was no need for additional words, no phrases that could satisfy the anger or the questions running through my mind. Of course, I knew every man and woman had a price, money or power allowing them to cross the line of decency into the dark abyss of evil. I’d seen it countless times. I’d witnessed the change in those considered the best people in the world just because they’d gotten a taste of wealth or influence. Money was a great instigator of all things evil in this world.

That’s how the divide between the wealthy and the impoverished continued to widen. Greed. I’d become damn good at predicting it over the years, the odds always in my favor. But this betrayal cut deeper than I cared to admit. Maybe because Andres had been with the family for so long or the fact I’d made him a lot of money over the years.

Whatever the case, that couldn’t matter any longer. He’d placed my entire family in danger and would die because of it. Whether or not he answered the question as to why didn’t matter at the end of the day.

Only retribution did.

With Constantine and Gabriel behind me, we took long strides down the corridor of the hospital. Andres had never contacted some of our men to protect Chase because Andres had known Chase would come clean, telling me everything he knew. He’d also neglected to tell me Chase had wanted to meet with me. The plan was quite good, the subterfuge almost working, but it would seem Andres underestimated the power of love.

It dawned on me that Georgia had managed to teach me more things in a few days than I’d learned in years. Maybe Miguel was right that the power of a woman could never be denied.

If a man knew what was good for him.

I pulled the silencer from my jacket, taking a few seconds to screw it onto the barrel of my Glock. While I remained angry, I was resigned that with every powerful organization there was always someone wanting to better themselves without doing the work to make that happen. Losing Andres would hurt for a little while.

Then I’d get the fuck over it.

That was the nature of my world, a business that had allowed me to enjoy some of the finer things in life. Thank God I’d finally been allowed a second chance at living a life with love instead of toys and trinkets.

And I wasn’t going to fuck it up.

I had a grin on my face as I slowly opened the door, all of us remaining as quiet as church mice.

As Constantine and Gabriel flanked my side, lifting their weapons, I took a deep breath. Andres had a pillow over Chase’s face, ready to smother him. He was struggling but to no avail. Andres was strong.

“I think more creative methods of killing a man would be more to your training, Andres. Don’t you think?” Neither my question nor my sudden appearance seemed to surprise him as I thought it would. However, at least he lifted the pillow higher.

Chase gasped, his chest heaving.
