“Yes,” I bit out. I was right. The darkness inside him was going to burn me up.

CHAPTER TWELVE

DIVYA

He never let go. He touched me inappropriately in places that were wet. Those two fingers snuck in and continued on a smouldering path. Dipping in my slickness. Burning me up. A groan escaped my lips, releasing with it a bit of the fire burning inside me. I wanted more. I jerked when the lights switched on. We were no longer alone, but I couldn’t get myself to care. So close. I was so close to going up in flames. I urged him on. “Please.” He stopped his progress. “Please,” I begged him. But the lights sucked him up and became brighter, and an intruder's voice spoke up out of the darkness.

I let a frustrated wail out, squinting my eyes. Why was the sun spilling in and spoiling my dreams when I kept the curtains closed just for this reason?

“Ah ha. I see movement. Rise and shine, sunshine.”

I shot up in my bed, looking at my dream who, unlike me, looked calm and collected in a beautiful beige linen suit. The man did suits like it was nobody’s business.

“What the hell. What are you doing in my room?”

His hooded gaze dropped to my breasts while his tongue crept out to lick the side of his mouth. I followed his eyes and rushed to bunch the remains of Adam's shirt together. Last night, I was too agitated to bother changing, so I went straight to bed.

This morning, I was paying the price for it.

“Well?” I tilted my face up.

“I am trying to make sure that my fiancee is ready on time for our wedding.” His eyes remained on my breasts.

Fiancee.

Last night’s, or rather this morning’s, events came crashing in, jolting me up and down as a roller coaster ride. Then his words waded in.

“You are kidding me, right? I agreed to your stupid idea somewhere after two, and we are getting married today?”

“In two hours.”

“What?” I shrieked. “Who does that?”

“We are going to. Cora is with Rosa, which gives you plenty of time to do whatever you women need to do. We leave in an hour.”

The arrogance of this man left me wondering what it said about me. Because he sure left me hot and twisted. “This is not how it works. I just agreed today. I need more time to get used to the idea.”

“This is exactly how it is going to work. You are testing my patience, Divya,” he said, annoyance reflected in his eyes when he finally moved them back to my face.

“I am testing your patience?” I snorted. Flopping back into bed, I turned around and pulled the sheets up and over my head.

There. That’ll show him.

“What are you doing?”

“Sleeping. I’m not getting married today.”

I heard him moving. Finally, he got the point. The bed dipped next to me, and an arm landed on my ass. What on Earth? I struggled to come out from under the sheet to be met with a pair of chestnut brown eyes staring at me.

He looked utterly comfortable on his side with his arm burning a hole in my ass.

“The thing is, Divya,” he said very slowly as if he were speaking to a child. “There are only two things that interest me today. We get married, or.” He moved his hand under my shirt, with his palm big and rough fingers on top of my mound. “I make your dream come true.”

I skyrocketed off my bed. We weren’t even married yet, and he was already messing up my mojo. He got rid of my boundaries like an eraser on a pencil line. My neck burned at the thought that I had probably been talking in my sleep. It was a good thing my brown skin covered my blushes because he shamed me enough to dig my own grave.

“Fine.” I stood next to the bed clutching my shirt together. “You can leave now. I will meet you downstairs.”

He made himself comfortable sinking into my duvet with his hands behind his head, and his dark eyes whirling lava inside.
