“I suggest you don’t test my patience today, mia cara,” I said stonily.

“He just wanted to offer the money back from my inheritance,” she said softly.

“Just like that? No conditions?” I taunted.

She dropped her eyes from mine.

Coward!

“Fucking look at me or I swear to god…”

Her eyes crashed into mine. “What did the swine want?” I growled.

“He wanted to get back together,” she muttered.

“Ah… and what did you tell him, mia cara?”

“I told him no… of course,” she faltered.

“Of course. Because that is what you should have done immediately. Sì? As you are my wife now, sì?”

She nodded frantically.

“Was this before or after you kissed him?”

She jerked away, scurrying towards the headboard, a rippled V in between her eyes. “How did you…”

I could almost see the wheels inside her head turning. My wife was no idiot although sometimes she goaded danger like she was. I knew the moment the realisation hit her. A gasp escaped, and her eyes turned round like the big saucers in the kitchen.

“You watched us. You have cameras in the garden.” She dared to accuse me.

I yanked her down again, trapping her with my hands.

“Be careful of what you accuse me of, mia cara, when you have done far worse. Do tell me all about this lover's kiss you shared,” I hissed through my teeth.

“Why?” she snapped. “Didn’t you see everything?”

A growl hit my belly and left my throat. I swear this woman would goad me to kill. Grabbing hold of her mouth, I shoved my tongue in, letting loose my anger, and leaving no victims behind.

My mouth.

I bit her lips harshly. I wanted my fucking mark pasted on her to last a week.

My mark.

Her whimper made me pause, and I lifted my head.

“Don’t fucking test my patience today,” I gritted.

“I am not going back to him,” she whimpered.

“Of course not,” I snapped. “Not that there is much to go back to.” I should have told Marco to kill him. I should have put a bullet in his goddamn head.

Why had I kept him alive?

I looked at the hand that had slammed into the fool. Divya followed my gaze with horror.

“Oh my god. What did you do to him?” she shrieked.
