“As soon as Zara wakes up, I’ll speak to him. We’ll get him through this, G.” I am not leaving this woman’s side. Not now, not ever. “Until Zara is awake, I’m not moving.”

“You really love her, don’t you?”

“More than life. I’d take her fucking place in a heartbeat.” I bow my head, not being able to say anymore.

Grayson’s eyes go wide, fixating on my hand over the bandages on her stomach.

“Fuck. I’m so sorry.”

“I don’t need sorry, Grayson. I do need something else.”

“Anything.”

“Make sure Alex has been delivered back to our safe house and get the location of the girls. Tell Enzo we need Mikhail. I’m done fucking around. We’re ending this.”

“How much will the Russians want this time?”

“Like I said, I’d give my life. It doesn’t matter.”

“Got it.” As he turns to leave, he stops. “Let us know about Zara, Frankie. We are all here for whatever you both need.”

“Thank you, G. Keep me updated on Keller, and don’t leave Jax on his own.”

He gives me a curt nod and quietly shuts the door, leaving me with just my thoughts.

I squeeze my eyes shut. All I can see are the flames. The way her lifeless body felt in my arms. I trace circles around the engagement ring I slipped back on a little while ago.

Gently, I lift her hand to my lips and plant a soft kiss on her skin.

“I will make up for this. I will prove to you every day for the rest of our lives how much I love you. Let me worship you. Wake up, dolcezza. Please? I fucking need you, baby.” I rest my head against her hand as my heart rapidly thumps in my chest.

I’ve fucked this up again.

But she’s still alive. I know my girl is strong.

We can get through this, and we will burn the fucking world down, together.

ZARA

The intense brightness of the white lights makes my eyes ache as I struggle to keep them open. With a groan, I tilt my head from side to side, trying to alleviate the stiffness in my neck.

“Zara?” Frankie’s voice floats around the room.

I can make out a shadow. I can feel him around me.

“Frankie?” I cough and pain rips through me.

“Don’t move.”

Alarms start ringing, causing my head to pound against my skull. “Turn it off.”

He squeezes my hand, which calms the rising panic. Jesus, my mouth is so dry.

“You’re okay, angel.” Frankie reassures me and strokes my cheek. I can hear the pain in his voice, and it makes my heart start racing.

My eyes go heavy as I try to focus on him. But with the agony deep in my bones and throughout my entire body, it’s too much.
