“As enticing as fucking you right here and right now is, we have to stop.” His voice was rough and strained, and it was enough to tell Maddy that it was taking Shark tremendous effort to bring things to a halt.

Aroused beyond belief, she squeezed her eyes closed, trying to ignore the way her body was clamoring for release. She’d been so lost, she almost told him that they didn’t have to stop, that she was on the pill and protected, if that was his concern. But for as much as she wanted Shark—and for as badly as she ached to know how he’d feel inside of her—she didn’t want their first time together to be like this, in the garage. She wanted a warm, soft bed and lots of time to enjoy everything about making love with him.

“Okay,” she said softly.

He lifted his head, clearly surprised that she hadn’t argued. “We really have to slow down and think this through.” He straightened and leaned back, panting.

She immediately missed his warmth, the heat and strength of his body pressing into hers. Humored by his insistent, back-in-charge tone, she re-adjusted her bra while he watched. “Okay.”

Pulling the sides of her top together, he snapped them closed in a very efficient manner, as if he wanted her covered as quickly as possible. “You are a force of nature, Maddy,” he growled. “I’d ask you to tone it down, but I don’t think you can. But try.”

She almost laughed at his ridiculous order but managed to hold it back. “Okay.” He frowned at her easy acceptance when she’d just seduced him.

“When did you become so agreeable?”

“Since I got what I wanted.” He raised a dark brow, and much to her relief she caught a glimpse of amusement softening the depths of his now-heated gray eyes.

“Oh, yeah? And what was that?”

This time, she didn’t bother stopping the grin from appearing on her lips. “A hot kiss and knowing there’s a whole lot more where that came from.” And for now, that kiss, and Shark’s uninhibited reaction, was enough for her. Almost. Before she moved away from him, she cupped him in her hand and squeezed gently. He made a soft, wholly arousing sound deep in his chest, his eyes closing as his head fell back. He leaned back against the SUV.

She jumped when someone banged on the closed garage door. “Don’t make me come in there,” Brawler said, low and menacing.

She looked at Shark as he gave her a heated, payback-was-a-bitch look, then he smirked as he draped his T-shirt over his delicious, evident erection. “You’d better go open the door before he comes in here and gets you into a headlock.”

She gave him a dubious look. “I doubt he would lay a finger on me. You’d most likely be the recipient of that headlock, but I’m sufficiently chastised.” She gave him a satisfied grin and a little wiggle as she headed for the garage door switch. She pressed it, and the door rose slowly.

As it elevated, she saw two sets of feet, then Brawler’s huge frame came into view along with his scowl. Twister was standing next to him with a curious and knowing look on his face.

She tilted her head at him and gave him a silent inquiry.

“I thought I would just come along for the ride. Sounds like you might need an extra set of hands with all your equipment and Beast’s.”

She moved onto the asphalt of the driveway and touched Brawler’s forearm. “Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll be fine. I’m so looking forward to meeting him.”

Maddy looked at him, and Twister schooled his features. The flush on her face gave her away, and it wasn’t the heat of the garage. His eyes went to the white SUV where Shark was doing something he couldn’t see. Adjusting his jeans?

Brawler’s tense body had relaxed from the soothing tones of Maddy’s words and comfort. She’d have both Brawler and his big Malinois eating out of her hand.

Dr. Madeline Towson was an irresistible beauty. It was clear she enjoyed the world, combining quickness and drive, leading her to her success. She was a life seeker, thought strategically, rapidly organizing her internal and…external resources in pursuit of her desires. And, at the moment, that was his buddy Shark, the lucky bastard. He was a good judge of character on most occasions and Maddy was earthy, practical, and tough-minded. Her sense of humor showed her biting wit and taste for the outrageous.

He really liked her but tempered that as a buddy should. Shark had staked a claim, and no teammate would ever think of Maddy in terms of romance again.

For the sake of privacy and not antagonizing Tex, Shark should keep his PDAs under wraps. He was already in the doghouse for the clothing snafu last night, especially with Maddy fiercely defending Shark.

He entered the garage while Brawler was telling Maddy how important it was to get to the airport on time and not keep his beloved Beast waiting. But knowing Beast, he was probably either sleeping or hanging out. Not much affected that canine.

Twister came around the end of the SUV. Shark gave him a narrow-eyed look and that same flush was on his face. Twister smirked. “What’s going on, brother?”

“Fuck you,” Shark said.

Twister laughed softly, a sly smile on his lips.

“She getting…unruly?” He nodded his head in her direction. “Need an intervention?”

Shark grinned, but it wasn’t a pleasant one. “Fuck you.” He turned away and settled into the driver’s seat. “Get in the fucking back and keep your comments to yourself,” he said, a frustrated edge to his tone.
