“Couldn’t sleep either?” I ask with a smirk.

He runs a hand through his messy hair, “Lack of sleep isn’t my problem.”

I step around him into his room as I laugh, “You heard them too, huh?”

“Of course, I fucking heard them, Ronan. I watched them go in there. If I had known he was going to go all Daddy Finn on her last night, I would have joined them!” My laugh grows louder as I watch his face turn red. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this horny in my life,” he sighs exasperatedly.

I hold my hand up to his face, “Okay, didn’t need to know that.”

“I have half a mind to walk next door and wake their asses up.”

“Oh, don’t be such a whiner. She needed it, and you know it. Plus, it was about time Finn showed her that side of himself.” I could tell he’s been holding on by a thread, only showing her bits and pieces of the real him. I don’t know what happened last night that finally made the thread snap, but whatever it was, I’m grateful. Finn doesn’t allow many people in, afraid that they will leave him and he’ll wind up hurt. I suppose he’s a lot like Harper in that way. Children who have had their families stolen from them and were left to feel all alone in this world. Finn rarely sleeps with women. It’s just not who he is. It’s not because he doesn’t like to fuck, he probably needs it more than Mac and I, and that’s exactly his problem. Finn wants to get lost in his partner. He wants to connect with them, mind, body, and soul. He could give two shits about a random hookup. It’s just not who he is. Because of this, he does everything he can to avoid women altogether, to avoid any sort of relationship at all, really. Don’t get me wrong, Mac and I haven’t had any serious relationships in the past either, but we definitely don’t avoid women like the plague.

Finn doesn’t need to worry about Harper. One, she’s not going anywhere. The four of us are already in too deep. She has reached inside each of our souls and filled the cracks in only a way she knows how. For three men who are so dramatically different, she is perfect for each of us. I don’t know how she does it or what we did to have the universe put her in our lives, but I won’t let her go. We won’t. And two, he has us. Me and Mac… his brothers. Finn won’t ever be alone.

I hear Mac mumbling under his breath, only catching I’m not a whiner and Finn and his fucking Daddy kink, and it pulls me from my train of thought, reminding me why I came here to wake his cranky ass up in the first place. “Stop complaining and put some fucking clothes on. I’m sick of looking at your dick. Meet me by the elevator in ten.”

“I’m not putting clothes on, Ronan. I’m fucking exhausted, and I want to sleep. Go away.”

“God, you’re being a real bitch today.” I watch him roll his eyes at me in annoyance. I love riling him up sometimes. That’s what big brothers are for, right? “Fine. I guess you’ll miss out on all of the fun.”

“What could possibly be fun at six a.m.?”

“I put the word out about one of our shipments being delivered at the docks this morning. Fake, of course. I had some of our guys stake out early, and lo and behold, they found some rats trying to steal our shit.”

I see the light flicker in his eyes. Usually, Mac hates having blood on his hands, but sometimes I know what my brother needs. As much as he hates to admit it, sometimes his soul needs the violence, to feel bones breaking under his fist, to hear the screams in his ears. If he doesn’t let it out on them, it will eventually boil over until he explodes. He’ll unleash the killer inside him and show no remorse, and he will never forgive himself if he hurts someone he loves. That’s what our father turned him into, and I’ll be damned if I let it destroy him.

“They have them?”

I give him a calculated grin, “They’re holding three of them in the warehouse by the docks. Figured after last night you could stand to blow off a little steam.” I see the clenching of his fists at his sides like his body is already gearing up to inflict pain on those who would dare to defy us, and I know I’ve got him.

“Should I go get Finn?” He asks.

“No, let them sleep. I called Logan and Tanner an hour ago, and they’re already here to keep an eye out while we’re gone. Plus, you and I haven’t had some brotherly bonding in a while, and I’m itching to get my hands dirty.”

Mac smirks back at me. “Give me ten.”

I wait for my brother out in the hallway, and after only five minutes, Mac steps out of his room dressed in his usual black boots, jeans, and Henley. “Would it kill you to wear a suit?”

“You know that’s not my style. One of us needs to be the cool one, and I know Harper likes it.” At the mention of her name, I glance toward Finn’s door. A sudden wave of anxiety crawls up my throat at the thought of leaving her. I know she’ll be safe here with Finn, Logan, and Tanner, but that does nothing to calm the nervousness that is taking over me. Like he always does, Mac reads my mind instantly.

“Wanna go tell them goodbye quick?”

Thankful for his suggestion, I pat him on the shoulder, “Yeah.”

We quietly slip into the room and find them sleeping peacefully on the bed. Finn wrapped around Harper’s delicious body. They look so peaceful I almost hate to wake them. Almost.

We walk around to Harper’s side of the bed, and I sweep my hand down her face. Seeing her dark eyelashes dusting over the freckles on her cheeks calms some of the anxiety coursing through me. She stirs at my touch, and after a few seconds, her eyes blink open to meet mine and Mac’s. “Hey, Baby,” I whisper.

“Mhmmm. Is everything okay? What time is it?” She moves to sit up in bed, but I stop her.

“Everything is fine. It’s a little after six. Mac and I have to take care of a few things. Logan and Tanner are already here, but we will be back soon. We just wanted to say bye.” She gives me a sleepy smile, and I swear my heart stops for a moment. She snuggles back into Finn, who is still dead to the world.

“Okay, have fun.” I bend over to drop a featherlite kiss on her lips before stepping aside so Mac can get to her. He whispers something in her ear, causing her to give him a seductive giggle. He kisses her lips, cups her cheeks, and whispers, “Bye, Princess.”

I watch as she settles back against her pillow, and I realize almost all the anxiety I felt minutes ago has disappeared—what this woman does to me.

Mac and I tiptoe out of her room and head toward the elevators. “Wipe that shit-eating grin off of your face.”
