Now, Mac.

Just like that, I welcome him in.

I will burn the world down around me and leave a trail of bodies in my wake. Anyone who touches a hair on her head or so much as breathes in her direction will wish they were never born. I will stop at nothing until my Princess is back in my arms.

They better make friends with the Devil because they’re about to spend eternity in Hell.

Harper

The first thing I notice as I come to is the overwhelming smell of cologne. It doesn’t smell like any of the guys, and it’s so strong it burns my nostrils. A sudden jolt causes me to hit my head on the floor, and I groan in pain, only worsening my pounding headache.

What the hell was that?

“Well, well, well. Good morning, Sunshine.” A deep, raspy voice drums in my ears. It sounds so familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it. My head feels so fuzzy, my body exhausted. I can’t even get myself to think straight.

What is going on?

Finally, I muster up the energy to open my eyes to find myself in the back of a van. A surge of panic races through me as I move to sit up, only to find that my hands are tied behind my back. The strange voice chuckles from the front seat, and I snap my head toward it. The second my eyes land on the driver of the van, everything comes crashing back to me in rapid succession.

Logan.

He took me.

Drugged me.

Tanner couldn’t stop him.

Ronan couldn’t stop him, either.

He . . . he killed Ronan.

The image of Ronan lying lifeless on the floor in a pool of blood dripping from his head floods my memory, and I can’t stop the pained sob that slides past my lips.

“Baby . . .” I whisper to myself. Silently hoping that, by some miracle, my whispering it will bring him back to me. But when it doesn’t, I scoot myself against the van wall, biting the inside of my cheek, forcing the tears to stop falling. I notice Ronan’s signet ring, the one I slid on when I woke up to find him, still on my finger and begin spinning it around with my thumb, using it to center me. I can’t fall apart. I have to focus. I have to make it long enough for Mac and Finn to find me.

“Why?” I ask in the strongest voice I can manage.

“Why do you think? Declan.”

That name cuts through me like a knife. I should have fucking known. After everything he’s done, killing his daughter and teaming up with Liam McDermott, I should have known he would have found another way to get to me. I just never would have thought he would have found someone this close.

“Played my part well, didn’t I? It really wasn’t that hard. You all made it too easy. You were all so focused on Liam and protecting you from randoms on the street that you never thought to take another look at me. I just had to bide my time.” Logan’s voice now has a thick Irish accent, making it clear he was covering it up before.

“Keep him talking, Baby.” I hear Ronan’s voice in my head, telling me what to do. Logan’s in the mood to chat might as well make the most of it.

“H–how?”

He scoffs as if I’m the biggest idiot on the planet, but little to my surprise, he babbles on. “As soon as Liam figured out those three idiots were falling for you, he told Declan. Declan knew it wouldn’t be long until they hired security for you. They have too much shit going on to all be around you 24/7. And wouldn’t you know, he was right? He had one of his guys hack the system of the security company the McDermotts use. They put in a fake file, and all we had to do was wait until Ronan made the request. Badabing, Badaboom, I was your new security detail.”

“There’s more, Harper. Keep pushing.”

“What’s Delcan have on you? Why are you doing this?” Logan’s face falls briefly, but I see it before he has a chance to cover it up. Got it. “What did you do?”

I watch in the rearview mirror as his face twists in anger. “I fucked up. This is how I’m fixing it,” he bites out.

Before I can ask what he did, he slows and pulls off to the side of the road. My breathing speeds up as I take in our surroundings. There are no windows back here, but all I see out the windshield is the dark and vast expanse of wilderness. Shit. If he takes me out there, they’ll never be able to find me.
