A quest to unveil the one of divine radiance.

Through veiled mystique, the prophecy unfolds,

A narrative ancient, as destiny molds.

Darkness in pursuit, the seeker’s plight,

To find the one who holds darkness but is of light.

The magic’s temptation, a perilous delight.

A test of virtue, a relentless fight.

In the tapestry of fate, threads intertwine,

As the seeker’s quest unfolds through time.

A prophecy. One written by an ancestor long forgotten in history. Another Crete witch with the power to hear The Fate’s words and deliver them in riddles to be solved.

“How did we overlook this?” I wondered aloud. “And why do I get the feeling it’s exactly what we’ve been looking for?”

Chapter Five

Madilyn

Throughout the entire meeting, his intense gaze remained fixed on me, making me acutely aware of his presence. It drove me crazy, the way my body reacted to even his eyes on me. That alone wasn’t enough for the bond to push me, however.

My chest felt like it was ready to explode. I wasn’t even certain of what Edwardo was telling us, as I just focused on not looking at Brady. I couldn’t let him know that his presence sent shivers down my spine. It was bad enough that he would know I felt him at all.

My gaze blurred over the map as Edwardo and Alpha Orion pointed at the recently acquired bar on the other side of the forest. It had once been rogue property out that way, but with Liberty’s new mate, the land that had once been home to rogues now was part of the Rigel Pack territory.

They were mentioning something about the bar. It had burned down before and that it seemed that someone was attempting to burn it down again. I wasn’t sure if that was exactly what they were saying, however, I just knew that it matched with the feeling of fire in my veins as I tried to listen.

I sneaked a peek at Brady from the corner of my eye. As I looked at him, a subtle grin played on his lips, giving away his amusement. As his gaze locked onto me, a surge of liquid heat flooded my core, fueled by the intense fire that blazed in his emerald eyes.

Suddenly, I felt his gaze shift from me as his voice jolted me out of my psychosis.

“Which side of his face was burned?”

My attention perked at that question as I tried to figure out where in the meeting we were now. I knew that Edwardo had to be giving a report on the rogue who had been testing the strength of our boundaries lately, but I wasn’t sure why Brady seemed to care so much.

I watched as he and his father exchanged some knowing glances before Alpha Orion suddenly dismissed the meeting. Edwardo gestured for me to follow him, not hesitating a moment in his departure from the alpha’s office. I, however, paused.

Brady’s gaze was now latched onto his father’s desk behind me, but I knew that he knew I was standing there. Just as I knew that he had been watching me for the entirety of the meeting. I waited for him to acknowledge me. To maybe, just maybe, give me an answer to the question that was ringing in my head.

What was so special about this rogue?

“I’ll catch you later, Tinkerbell,” he said in a cool tone. The kind of tone that just makes you want to take an entire man and toss him off a bridge for the benefit of all women kind.

I growled quietly as I left the room, my determination for answers unaffected by the clearly disrespectful dismissal from my so-called mate.

“And he thinks I’ll accept that he’s changed,” I grumbled to myself as I stomped faster behind Edwardo to catch up.

“What’s that?” Edwardo asked.

I abruptly halted to avoid colliding with him from behind and frowned at his sudden stop.

“Nothing,” I said. “What was all of that about in there? Why did they get all weird over this one particular rogue? He’s not even feral like the others we encountered.”
