But I see Stella finally nod and sigh.

Yes! I want to throw my hand up in the air and fist bump every damn person in this room.

But just because she’ll be alone doesn’t mean that she’ll make this easy on me.

My eyes narrow. Maybe it’s time to be a bit more of a caveman than I’ve been thus far. Time to push harder and this time don’t back off and give her time to regroup. It seems to be a bad choice with her.

Harrison stalks over to me and glares at me. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”

“I do not,” I laugh. “But I’ll figure it out.”

“Good luck.”

“Thanks. I’m sure I’ll need it.”

“I’d suggest that you wear a cup too.”

Nodding my head, I smirk. “Not a bad idea.”

Stalking out of the room, I use the spare key for the car that I bought her and hop in the back seat, sitting quietly and texting Daffy.

Let me know when she’s on her way out here.

Sure.

We’ve got everything we need for Daisy so she’s going straight home.

Thanks

Putting my phone away, I stretch out across the seat and try to relax. I can smell Stella’s scent in the air. Some perfume that’s full of soft, gentle flower notes.

It’s so her. Except when you back her into a corner and then she’s a damn wildcat.

One that I desperately want to tame.

My phone pings and I grin when I see that she’s on her way out. Now to surprise my baby with a special night just for the two of us.

I just wish I did have that cup because she might hurt me when I put my plan in motion.

Worth the risk though. She’s always worth every risk.

CHAPTER 8

Stella

Iclimb into the car and wonder why the hell Daffy and Harrison were acting so weird. I’ve never seen them so insistent on babysitting all night. I don’t really like leaving Daisy with anyone but I trust the two of them and if they need to, they can call me.

I start the engine and stare through the windshield, wishing that I’d said no. Wishing that I could relax. Wishing that I didn’t smell Max in the damn car.

How is that possible? He hasn’t even been in this car. Unless he did when he bought it.

Of course, I wouldn’t put it past him to spray his damn cologne in the freaking car to make sure that no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t forget him.

Right now, the scent of his is washing over me, caressing my senses and making my body ripple with desire.

Until my door is shoved open and I’m pushed over to the other side of the car.

“What the hell!” I scream and eye the crazy man behind the steering wheel. “Have you lost your mind?”
