It’s now or never. “I’m pregnant,” I blurt out before I can change my mind.

He freezes, his face slack, lips parted.

“I wanted to have a doctor confirm it before I got you upset for no reason. I came over here last night to tell you, but I couldn’t tell you with Allison here, and then she said all that stuff.”

“You’re what?”

I feel my shoulders fall now that I’m not carrying as much weight on them. “I’m pregnant. We’re going to have a baby. And I know we agreed to go slow and this isn’t exactly going slow but—” My words are halted as he tangles his fingers into my hair and pulls me against him for a lip-crushing kiss.

I melt into him. My legs that have felt weak all day finally give out. I would’ve hit the floor if it wasn’t for his support. He spins me so I’m pinned between him and the fridge. Slowing the kiss, he breaks it off without pulling away. “We’re going to have a baby?”

I smile as I look into his icy blue eyes that are growing warmer by the second. “We are. Are you okay with that?”

He smiles wide. “Am I okay with that?” He kisses me. “Of course I am.”

“But what about her?”

He shakes his head. “That’s what I was going to tell you this morning. I don’t want her. I’ve been done with her for years. It doesn’t matter what she wants and I told her the same thing last night. I choose you and I’ll continue choosing you for the rest of my life.” His mouth moves back to mine, kissing me softly.

I push against his chest until he breaks our kiss once again. “But what about Ava? Do you think she’ll hate me for coming between you and her mother?”

He shakes his head. “Ava loves you. And she’ll love this baby. We’re giving her the family she’s always wanted. She’ll never hate you, Emery.”

Slowly, he moves his mouth back to mine. He kisses me soft and slow while his hands tour my body, bringing every inch of me to life. He kisses me until I have no air in my lungs and then he trails his lips down my jaw and to my neck. My heart is hammering against my chest and my blood is rushing through my body, leaving no part of me untouched by the tingles he is making me feel.

“Lincoln, we have to stop,” I pant out as he kisses my neck.

“I never want to stop,” he breathes out as he slides his hand down the front of my yoga pants. His fingers thrust into me and he silences my moan with his lips. The heel of his hand grinds against my clit while his fingers move inside me. With his mouth glued to mine, I’m breathless, weak, and chasing after a high that only he can make me feel.

“Hurry up and come for me before we get caught,” he whispers in my ear as his teeth scrape against my earlobe.

With the pressure building inside of me his command is enough to push me over the edge with his command and I ride out every last beautiful wave I can get. I want more, but somehow, this will do until Ava is in bed and I can have Lincoln all to myself.

“That’s my girl,” he whispers, withdrawing his hand once I’m breathless and weak against him.

“I think it’s time we reevaluate our relationship,” I say, sitting next to her on the couch after getting Ava to bed for the night.

She mutes the TV and gives me her full attention.

“How do you think our relationship has been going and where do you see it going?”

She wets her lips. “I think things have been great, and now that I’m pregnant I’ve been thinking a lot about our future. Or, I guess how I hope our future will go”

I take her hand in mine. “Tell me.”

She takes a big breath. “Well, I’ve been imagining that I’d move in here with you and Ava. We’ll have this baby and be one big family, maybe we’ll even get married one day.” She shrugs. “But I mean, I understand if marriage isn’t something you want since you’ve already been married once and?—”

I cut her off by pressing my mouth to hers. The kiss starts off soft and slow but it grows quickly in speed and intensity. I pull her closer and closer and closer until I have her laid across the couch straddling my hips. Hearing her words is everything I could’ve ever hoped for. I’m unable to contain the happiness that’s coursing through my body.

“Wait,” she whispers.

I’m breathless when I say, “What’s wrong?”

She shakes her head. “Nothing is wrong. It’s just that…”
