He laughed, confirming what I already knew.

“So you have this thing, huh?” he asked me when it was clear words were failing me. I was thinking about all the ways he could take me across that table or somewhere we could hide and spend the afternoon fucking. This isn’t professional, I reminded myself.

“Yeah, I have this thing. I have a charity ball I have to go to, and Catherine says I need an escort.”

“I see.” He grinned like a Cheshire Cat. He was totally going to make me say it.

“I was wondering if you would mind accompanying me?”

“Wow, you make it sound so romantic,” he teased, his drawl dripping into every word.

I flushed, shaking my head. “This isn’t an invitation to the prom, Terry. I just need someone to go with me. Do the whole red carpet thing, dinner, and maybe dancing. You game?” I arched my eyebrow at him, straightening my stance.

Terry took another step closer to me. “Well, I would love to.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He winked at me, watching me like he was waiting to see what my next move would be. The heat of his stare sent a shiver down my spine. I looked away to get a moment to myself. When had this change occurred? The air was always so sexily charged around us. Was this a result of us having sex in the very room we were standing in? I wasn’t sure.

When my eyes met Terry’s again, I saw desire pooling in those big brown orbs. I figured he was seeing a mirror image in mine. I should flee. I should have run back to my office and hid for the day, but something was keeping me rooted to the spot.

“Is there a broom closet or a storage room we could slip into?” His tone was dangerously sexy. I shifted on my feet yet again.

“Why would we need to go to the broom closet?” I sputtered out.

“Because I would hate to leave you with wet panties.” Terry had a gleam in his eye that made my knees weak.

“I’ve gotta get back to work.” Words were failing me, and I wanted to get back to the confines of my office.

“You do that,” he said with a wink and headed back to the table where we fucked. He picked up the red pencil and placed it between his lips once again. “Dinner later?”

“Maybe.” I slowly turned and made a show of exiting the room, swaying my hips as I walked. I knew my sheath dress clung to my ass in a way he would appreciate. I snuck a peek at him over my shoulder and was rewarded with hooded eyes.

“Make time for me tonight, will ya?” he drawled.

“I will,” I promised and made my way back to the safety of my office, damp panties and all.
