“Thank you,” I replied, making my way through the apartment and back to Terry.

“Catherine?” he mouthed when my eyes found his. I nodded.

“No issues last night?” Catherine continued. “No inappropriate questions? No one dug a little too deep?”

“Nope, it was all fine. I guess I was worried that someone from group would recognize me or that my secret would somehow come out for nothing. I’m sorry I was such a pain in the ass about it.”

Catherine laughed. “It’s totally fine. You weren’t a pain in the ass at all. You have no idea the type of clients I have dealt with. You’ve been a walk in the park.”

It was my turn to laugh. “Now I know you’re lying to me.”

Catherine laughed again and told me, “Okay, well, you certainly have more secrets than most. But I wouldn’t trade you for anything. I think you’re doing amazing. And it looks like last night was a huge success.”

She has no idea, I thought to myself. “Yeah, it was.” I was sure that the megawatt smile I had on my face could be picked up on through the phone.

It was then that Terry called out, “Darlin’, you want some toast with your omelet?”

“Yeah,” I called back, motioning my free arm like a madwoman, asking him to be quiet. He only laughed.

“That’s Terry’s voice.” Catherine’s tone wasn’t in question. There was no use lying to her about it. “You two certainly did have a good night then, huh?” She giggled into the line, sounding like a girlfriend calling the next day for all the dirty details rather than my PR representative.

“Yeah, we certainly did,” I confirmed for her.

“Well, I’ll let you get back to him, then. I do want to talk about that on Monday, though,” she said with another giggle. I was sure some of that talk would be for the dirt and some of it would be for the PR rep in her.

“Will do. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.”

“Oh, you too,” she teased.

With a goodbye, we hung up. I walked over to the kitchen table where Terry had our breakfast set up. Two omelets, fruit, and toast.

“This looks amazing. Thank you so much. I can’t remember when I had a breakfast that looked like this that I didn’t order in a restaurant.”

“Don’t thank me yet. You haven’t tasted it.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me, causing me to laugh. “But you’re welcome.”

I nodded and dug in. I let out a low moan as soon as the omelet hit my mouth. The vegetables, cheese, and egg tasted like heaven.

“Mia,” Terry said my name in warning. “Do you want to eat or do you want to be fucked again?”

I stared at him, midbite. “Uh, I want to eat,” I told him with an innocent smile. “I’m sorry, but this is just so good.”

“I’m glad you’re enjoying it. You have quite the stocked fridge. I was impressed.”

“It’s a service Ally found for me. She was worried about me living off takeout for the rest of my life because I never had time to shop. If I have the groceries here, I will cook. So she made it happen.”

Terry nodded in understanding. We finished our breakfasts, comfortable conversation falling from our lips. It made me nostalgic for all the times this had happened before and glad that he was here right now.
