Alexia
After a surprising turn of events in my boring workday today, I gave Kyle a lift back to his office. We both sat in my small sedan for a moment, lost in thought.
I knew Kyle was an enigma, and on some level carried some familiarity, but I could not have fathomed he was Kyle Cain, the sexy billionaire playboy.
I am just me, a small-town girl that found herself in a bigger city. He has my head so twisted right now after his admission to me, he thinks about me the way I cannot get him out of my mind. This was just supposed to be fun playing in the club, today this was not. Has it changed our dynamic?
“Penny for your thoughts,” I said as I looked over at him. He has his elbow rested up on the window, fingers over his lip as he is lost in thought.
“Where do we go from here?” he asked as he looked over at me and smiled.
I blew out a breath, hell if I knew. I’m out of my league with this man.
“I never would have guessed, you were, well you,” I laughed out awkwardly.
“And that changes things?” he questioned. His eyebrows drawn together as he searched my face, he is as lost as I am.
“I would say so. I am not from your world, Kyle. I am a small-town girl who carved out a path the best she could. You are on a whole other level.” I motioned between us.
He looked out the window at his building for a moment, and then looked back across the street to Code Red.
“Do you have anything else to do for the rest of the day?” he asked as he grabbed my hand that was resting on the shifter.
I looked down for a moment at his hand over mine. Is this where I jump into a new reality? Or stay in the same one I live aside from when I turn myself into someone else at Code Red?
“I don’t,” I whispered. I looked up at those icy blue eyes of his holding mine. My heart pulse was in my ears. It was racing so hard.
He nodded as he looked back up to his building. He no doubt had a million things to take care of today before his day ended. I had one showing.
“Neither do I,” he said as he looked over at me and captured my face in his hands, “jump with me?” he questioned as he placed his lips over mine. I was a puddle for this man. I could have signed my own death warrant at this moment and not have cared. “Yes,” I whispered against his lips.
Kyle pulled out his phone and made a phone call. All I could hear between my own loud bells and alarms ringing in my head was him saying something about taking the rest of the day. Another call was to have his plane ready.
Kyle said jump and I did. Now I found myself at a small airport I had never noticed existed before. My hand was in his as we climbed the stairs to a small luxury plane. My car was parked at his office, he had his assistant drop us off here.
My mind was in a cloud, not feeling my feet on the ground any longer.
“Where are we going?” I asked him as he ushered me to a big couch inside the opulent plane that was bigger than my entire house. The inside walls were a deep red velvet against black couches and chairs placed around. There were staff, bringing drinks and making sure we were set before we took off.
