I smirked, "You're not wrong there."

"So, what happened?"

"After you guys left, we had some more wine, she got bold, made demands, pulled a gun on me, and...."

"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa." Nico raised his hands. "She pulled a gun on you? Where on earth did she get it?"

No point denying it.

"It was mine. I still had it on me when I arrived."

Nico rolled his eyes, "I'm not even gonna ask how she got close enough to get it."

"I will! This is getting interesting." Atlas chuckled, "Go on bro."

"Look, something triggered her okay. One minute she was Catalina, lost damsel in distress. The next, she was on top of me demanding answers."

"And?" Atlas probed.

"And I may have gotten too carried away and told her we were the enemy.” I sighed, “I guess she didn't like that."

"You what!?" Nico choked. "Why the fuck would you tell her that? Especially since you already blurted her name, alerting her to the fact that we were keeping something from her."

I groaned in frustration, my fists clenching. "I know! I fucked up, okay?! Don't you think I know that! The situation was just… charged."

"Oh, I bet it was." Atlas said dryly, picking up the bottle from the tabletop. He eyed it a while before a deep frown crossed his face. "Hey, where did you say you got this from?"

"The restaurant Frederick chose for our last meeting, about the counterfeit goods.” I shrugged, “The wine isn’t out on the market yet, and it was good, so I asked for a case."

"Well, you should have read the fine print." Atlas tossed the bottle over, and Nico and I quickly scanned the label.

"Rivera-Flores vineyards," Nico whispered. "There's your trigger."

Fuck me! Of all the things I could have brought home, it had to be something of hers.

"So, let me get this straight,” Atlas said with a furrowed brow. “You let her hold you at gun point, then let her leave to steal your car, and then she lights the place up like the fourth of July?"

I grimaced, "Yeah, something like that."

Nico burst out laughing, "Yeah okay. We know that didn't happen. You? Letting someone hold you at gunpoint."

Atlas joined in, chuckling uncontrollably. "I’m glad you're still human like the rest of us, bro. We don't blame you for thinking with the wrong head."

When their fits of laughter finally subsided, Nico stifled a smile. "I still can't believe she had the balls to steal your car."

"Not that hard to believe, given she doesn't know who we are,"Atlas scoffed.

"Well, she'll find out soon enough," I mused, turning the bottle in my hand.

"Still, she stole a car. From her enemies. Then lit the place on fire." Nico nodded in admiration, "That's one brave woman."

“Or a stupid one,” I said.

Nico chuckled, “Well, we know she’s not that.”

I knew he was right. Catalina was one of the most intelligent women I’d met, but right now, I was too angry and tired to put up with this shit. If anyone was stupid, it was me. I had screwed up and it annoyed me. We all thought that if anyone were to screw up, it would be Atlas with his homicidal tendencies. But tonight, it was me, and I had reached boiling point.

"Well, if you admire her so much, then you can have her!"
