“Sure. I may ask Logan to stay, also. We don’t want anyone messing with your store a second time.”

“You don’t have to do that, Sam. I’ll be here.”

“It would be smart to call Deputy Winters, too. He may want to be nearby.”

“Absolutely not. I will not ask any favors of that man.”

Sam smiled to herself as she understood Laurel’s anger at Winters. The deputy had been on his way to becoming important to her, and Sam was certain the reverse was true.

“If it were me, I’d take whatever help was offered.”

Laurel crossed her arms. “The deputy hasn’t offered.”

“He just hasn’t thought about it yet. When he hears Logan and I will be here, I’m certain he’ll offer.” Picking up the bucket in one hand, the mop in the other, Sam headed to the back room.

“Dump the water down the floor drain.”

“Will do.” Doing as Laurel said, Sam stopped when male voices came from the front.

They were loud, although she couldn’t make out what was being said. Setting down the bucket and mop, she walked to the open door and peered out in time to see Miguel shove Logan with both hands.

She ran toward them, not wanting this to get out of control. “Miguel. You need to leave.”

Neither man looked at her, their attention focused on each other. When Miguel pushed Logan again, she pulled out her phone, punching in a number. Her voice rose when Logan responded by slugging Miguel in the arm.

“Sheriff? There’s a man creating a disturbance at the new flower shop. Yes, the one on the main street, next to the bank. By the way, his name is Miguel Hobson.”

Hearing his name, Miguel glared at Sam before stalking to the front door. Shoving it open, he took one last look at her before rushing outside.

Logan watched him go, unaware Sam had come up beside him. Sensing her, he smiled. “You didn’t call the sheriff’s office, right?”

“No, but Miguel didn’t know that. What happened?”

“He followed me inside, shoved me from behind, then slipped in front of me and shoved again.”

“You guys didn’t argue or anything?”

“We never said a word to each other. The man is crazy, Sam.”

“You’re right. It took me much too long to realize it when we were married.”

“You were married to that man?” Laurel had walked up behind them.

Sam grimaced. “It’s a long story. I’ll tell you about it sometime. For now, please don’t spread it around.”

“I won’t breathe a word. It was odd, though. He shoved Logan inside from the back, then got in his face and shoved him again.”

“Have you ever seen Miguel around the shop before tonight?”

Laurel gave a quick shake of her head. “No. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen him around Brilliance.”

Logan kept his gaze on the front windows and entry doors. “I hope he took off. To be safe, you might want to lock up, Laurel.” He threaded his fingers through Sam’s. “I’m taking Sam to dinner. Why don’t you join us?”

“I appreciate the offer, but I don’t want to intrude.”

“You wouldn’t be intruding. We’d love to have you.”

She looked down at her work clothes. Before she could object again, Sam spoke.
