They held each other in silence for a long time. He could feel her body tremble against his. Logan hoped it was a good sign. Edging away, he put a few inches between them.

“Is that a yes?”

Tears streamed down her face. He lifted a hand, sweeping them away with a finger.

“Darn. I never cry.”

His eyes lit with warmth. “No?”

“Never. I don’t know what’s happening to me.”

“But you’ll marry me anyway?”

A slow smile appeared. “Yes, Logan. I’ll marry you anyway.”

He let out a loud whoop before capturing her mouth with his. Minutes passed before he raised his head to search her face.

“You’re sure?”

She licked her lips, still feeling the tingle of his mouth on hers. “I love you, Logan. Marrying you is everything I want.”

Epilogue

Two months later…

Sam held up her left hand to admire the gold band on her finger. Though she’d done it several times since the ceremony an hour earlier, she couldn’t help doing it again.

She and Logan had hoped for a small, quick wedding at town hall. Once Margie and other women at Whistle Rock learned of their intentions, they put a stop to it real fast.

Being the sixth wedding at the ranch in the last few years, each knew their role and went to work. They worked with Sam, although she knew little about fancy wedding preparations.

Her parents had sold the ranch and moved to town. When told of her marrying a second time, they didn’t wait to make flight plans. Sam was thrilled to see them, and they loved Logan.

“Sam, you are so beautiful. I’ll bet the rest of the ranch hands wished they’d scooped you up first.” Dorie Worrel, the local veterinarian, gave her a hug. “Men can be so blind.”

“I won’t argue with you, Doc. Are you seeing anyone?”

Dorie seemed surprised. “Not exactly.”

“What does that mean?” Sam then saw Mack Devore, a local rancher, walking toward them. “Mack, huh?”

“He invited me to come with him. Nothing more.”

“Right.” Mack, a widower with two grown sons, had briefly dated Emma Griffin, a cook at the ranch. “He’s a good man.”

“That, he is.” Dorie met him partway, sliding her arm through his.

“Guess you heard about the doc and Mack.” Laurel stopped beside her, handing out a glass of punch. “Logan asked me to give this to you. Said he had to speak with Quinn about something.”

“I don’t know much about Dorie and Mack, except he invited her to accompany him today.”

“They’ve been in Florals & Floats a few times together. I believe there’s more to them than friendship.” Laurel spotted Aiden Winters walking toward them. “I’m going to get a slice of cake.”

Before Sam could respond, Laurel hurried off. She wondered if it had anything to do with the deputy, who appeared truly perplexed by Laurel’s quick departure. He recovered to greet Sam.

“You look gorgeous, Sam.” Leaning down, he kissed her cheek. “Congratulations.”

“Hey, Winters. Are you messing with my wife?” Logan smiled at Aiden, clasping the hand held out to him.
