Evelyn was in the middle of it, squeezing the crap out of Olivia, the two so dang sweet in their love for one another.

My nerves rattled a fraction as Ezra and I approached everyone where they were laughing and chatting under the trees.

We were hand-in-hand.

So obviously together.

And on all things holy was this out of character. A thousand miles off base to where I’d been when I’d first driven into this town.

Ezra pulled me closer, his voice a rumble where he angled down to whisper near my ear. “Can’t tell you how happy I am that you’re here. Right at my side.”

“It feels like it’s exactly where I belong.”

I meant it.

That didn’t mean I wasn’t shrinking under all the eyes that suddenly shifted our direction and the way the conversations went a little quieter when they realized the town Sheriff was strolling up holding the new resident’s hand.

We might as well have had a spotlight on us and a neon light flashing over our heads.

Look who is banging.

I wouldn’t care except there was no missing the speculation and pity there, too, like they were all feeling sorry for Ezra who’d had to settle for the runner up.

The consolation prize.

Well, all except for Paisley who squealed when she saw us coming. She threw her arms over her head, her long, white curls bouncing around her shoulders. “Ahh, look who is here! Savannah, get your adorable butt over here and have a margarita with us. We’ve been waiting for you.”

She stood by a frozen margarita machine that was spinning with an electric-green concoction, and there was a bar that was manned by two bartenders off to the right of it. On the opposite end was another table with big glass dispensers filled with different nonalcoholic beverages, a couple different lemonades and teas and punches.

Surrounding her were Dakota, Beth, and Chloe, plus a few other women I hadn’t met before.

Dakota’s attention dropped to where Ezra was holding my hand, and she pressed her lips together to keep from screaming in excitement, and Beth was literally running in place while swiveling her hips.

Oh boy. I was about to get the inquisition from my friends.

Friends.

Everything thrashed and expanded and swelled.

How was it possible I had those, too?

“Watch out…you’re about to get asked about the size of my dick.” Ezra’s voice tickled at the lobe of my ear, low, rumbly laughter filling it.

“And what am I supposed to tell them? I wouldn’t want to make them jealous.” No stopping the easiness now.

He angled closer, words dipping with seduction. “You tell them whatever you want, Little Trespasser. The only thing that matters is that you know the cock in question is going to be claiming every inch of this sweet, little body. Over and over. Forever.”

He dragged the blunt nail of his index finger from the base of my skull down to the middle of my back.

Chills raced. The man had the audacity to smirk as he took a step back.

“I’m going to go find the guys. Come find me when you want me,” he said.

“I always want you.”

He reached over and gripped the outside of my thigh with one of those big hands, his mouth at my jaw. “Good girl. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear.”

Then he walked away, while I stood there panting like a stray dog.

“Um, yoohoo, little miss Savannah, get over here right now.” Paisley jolted me out of the stupor, and I hurried over to where my friends were huddled, slinking along like the hundred guests mingling around wouldn’t notice me. We all might as well have been in sixth grade with the way we were giggling.

“Oh, Snuggle Muggle, you got all up in that big dick, didn’t you?” Paisley didn’t hesitate.

Apparently, they didn’t need to ask the size. The man spoke for himself.

Dakota swatted at her, her name a chastisement. “Paisley.”

Paisley put her hand to her chest, purely innocent. “What?”

“That’s a little invasive, isn’t it?”

“No topics are off limits between besties.” Paisley looped her arm around my waist and pulled me to her side. “Are they?”

Laughing, I shook my head. “No. Never. But I’m pretty sure it was that big dick that got all up in me.”

I whispered it so quick and quiet, and a giddy giggle hiccupped out of me on the last.

Surprised, Dakota smacked her hand over her mouth. Beth squealed and Paisley shifted to rock me all over the place while she hugged me. “I knew it. I could see it written all over you.”

I’d been worried about how clear that fact was this morning. Right then, I didn’t care.

Because I liked this. Loved it really. This…feeling.

The support.

The belief.

The belonging.

And for the first time in my life, I wasn’t afraid.

“Is that ever an understatement.” Beth took a sip of her margarita. “We could feel it from the second y’all rolled up in Ezra’s truck. That man is whipped…” She drew it out while she spun an invisible lasso over her head. “Tied. Done for. I mean, did you see his face when he was walking up?”
