Was she really doing this? Sneaking them into one of her private rooms?

But she had panic buttons in every room of the house as well as on her. She fingered her necklace, knowing all she had to do was open the locket and hit the small button inside. And some part of her had to trust them for her to go this far with them.

“You sure about this, pretty girl?” Nico asked her with concern, eyeing her.

No. But was she stopping? Also, no.

“Yes.”

“Then tell us the rules,” Liam said as they walked into the room, and she locked the door. They’d all snuck upstairs. She’d thought for sure that at any stage Regent would walk out of his office and see them.

Her heart was racing. She felt more alive than she had in years. And that was down to them. They were pushing her, but they were also supporting her.

But it remained to be seen whether they really would stick around.

“Don’t you make the rules?”

That’s how she thought it worked. Liam in charge, and the two of them were supposed to obey.

Liam shook his head. “Not right now. And even when I do take charge, the orders I give are in the parameters you set. What are the boundaries?”

“I just want to watch,” she told them. “Not participate.”

“Does being touched by us scare you?” Liam asked.

She thought about that for a moment and shook her head. “No. When you touch me, I don’t feel panicked or afraid. I feel safe.”

Both of them nodded.

“Charlotte, go and sit on the sofa and not move from there, understand?”

She nodded again.

“I have to insist that you use words, Lottie,” Liam told her. “So there’s no misunderstanding.”

“All right. I understand.” Sitting, she was all too aware of how wet she was between her legs, of the way her clit throbbed. Her nipples were hard, pressing against her bra. She hadn’t felt aroused since before she was kidnapped. This was all down to them.

“Pick a safe word,” Liam said.

She jolted when she realized he was talking to her. Well, of course he was because Nico must already have one.

“Nico’s safe word is beans.”

“Beans?”

“Argh, hate the things,” Nico told her. “If I’m saying beans something is wrong.”

“Why do I need one?”

“In case this gets to be too much and you need us to stop,” Liam told her. “Even though you’ll be staying where you are, you’re still a participant and you need a safeword.”

“I don’t . . . I guess I could go for oranges. I don’t like oranges. So sticky and messy on my fingers.”

“Yeah, I know all about sticky and messy things,” Nico said with a sigh. “That’s just what it’s like when I touch—”

“Nico!” Liam snapped.
