“Niles you’re such an asshole. I wanted to tell Angie how I felt about her before I told you. I fell in love with her three years ago, and I’ve waited until now to do something about it. And newsflash – I’ve not been with anyone else since then.”

“You’ve got to be shitting me.”

“No, I’m not. I’m going to marry your sister.”

Niles shook his head and exhaled. “Son of a bitch.”

“I take that as your approval.” Jeremy smiled at his friend.

“Yes, you’ve got my approval. If you can make it up to her.”

“Oh, I’ll make it up to her.”

“Don’t tell me about it.”

“Sure thing.” Jeremy punched Niles in the arm as he walked past him. It was time to claim his woman.

CHAPTER FIVE

Angie managed to avoid Jeremy throughout the rest of the dinner and then made a hasty retreat to her room. Thank God her brother had interfered when he had. Otherwise, she would have become another notch on Jeremy’s bedpost. Closet. Whatever.

Why had she thought it was something special? Because she was a naïve girl crushing on her brother’s best friend and had a library full of romance novels. Life was not a series of happily ever after storybook endings. Jeremy hadn’t denied his long list of one-night stands, nor had he promised her anything different.

She yanked her dress over her head and threw it on the bed. Frowning, Angie looked at the mirror. There was nothing remarkable about her. She was an average girl with a slim build, and average equaled boring.

Pulling her blond hair back into a ponytail, Angie sighed. The woman that caught and kept Jeremy’s attention would be someone like Bailey. A no-nonsense, tattooed, biker babe.

Angie pulled down the fabric of her panties and glanced at her one tattoo. A three-inch daisy covered her right ass cheek. Stupid. Why had she gotten a replica of the flower Jeremy had given her the night he’d left town?

She jumped as she heard a knock at her door. Great. Her brother had chased her down for another lecture. Didn’t he have something better to do on the evening before his wedding? Angie grabbed a silk robe, slipped her arms through the sleeves, and threw open the door. “Niles –“

Her breath caught in her throat when she saw that it was Jeremy on the other side. He’d changed into jeans and a black t-shirt that clung to his abs. His hot gaze traveled down her body. Angie grabbed the ties on each end of her belt and wove them together.

“We need to talk.”

“Talk?”

“Yeah, for starters.” Jeremy walked through the door and kicked it closed with the heel of his boot. “You are beautiful.”

“I’m average.”

“No, Sugar, you are not.” Jeremy ran a hand down her cheek. “You’re stunning. Seeing you like this makes it hard to breathe.”

Angie bit her lip as her hands rested on his chest. She felt his heartbeat below her fingertips. What did it matter if it was only for one night? If she was destined to live the life of a cat lady who babysat her nieces and nephews, she might as well experience pleasure once.

“I want you.” Angie’s fingers trailed down his abs to latch onto the waist of his jeans.

“We should talk first.”

“Don’t worry about it. Niles is just a nosy, old brother. I’m a big girl, and I want to have sex.” Angie’s fingers stroked along his hard shaft. Why wait? He was leaving the day after the wedding, and she’d likely never see him again.

“Wait–”

“Stop talking.” Angie yanked open his pants and touched his hot flesh. “No underwear?”

“No.” Jeremy’s eyes shut as he stiffened under against her hand.

According to her girlfriends and all the books she’d read, there was one sure way to shut a guy up. Suck his cock. How hard could it be? All I need to do is put my mouth around it and suck. Right? Bravado and determination were her friends. Here goes nothing.
