Agent Castor leans in. "I never said they were going to prison."

I jerk back. "Then where?"

"Ryan," Bain says in a hushed tone, "Do you trust me?"

I scoff, "Is there a reason why I should? Had you been truthful with Beau and I from the beginning, I wouldn't have been taken, and your son wouldn't be sitting in prison!"

Bain looks at me in confusion. "What are you talking about? Beau isn't in prison."

Baffled, I stare at Bain as though he's grown another head. "What areyou talking about? Beau went to jail for Brock's murder. I saw him myself that night when I made the decision...when Sergio…" I can't finish my sentence.

"Yes, and then he was out a week later. He was found not guilty since it was self-defense…" His voice trails off briefly. "Ryan, Beau is a free man."

I can't breathe. Grabbing my chest, I find the nearest chair and sit down to get my breathing back to normal. I take in all this new information. Finally, once I've filed everything away, I smile and look up at my mother and Bain.

"So where is he? Did he help you plan all this?" I get back up and go to where they still stand, but the expression on my mother's face causes my smile to drop. "What is it…what's wrong?"

"Beau's not here, baby. He never came back home," she states, her already frail figure looking so much frailer than it did just a few minutes ago.

"But…"

"The D'Angelo brothers made sure he stayed away from you," Bain starts to say, "Beau would call me wasted, blaming me for him losing you to them."

"I don't understand…"

"They were sending him videos of you that suggested you were willing and enjoying your time with them. He wouldn't listen to me when I told him you were only trying to survive…doing what you needed to." Bain's tone is laced with pity.

"H-He believed that I w-wanted to b-be there?"

Bain nods.

"But he's my husband…we are married!" My voice rises as I begin to panic.

"No, the Judge who married you was found dead, and the paperwork was never filed," my mother tells me before gasping as I begin to collapse.

Bain catches me and lifts me up. "You need to rest, pretty girl. Here, hand me the flash drive, and you can get some rest."

I may be feeling dizzy, but I'm not out of it enough to just hand over the drive. I tighten my fist. "Take me to your office. I'll make a copy because this one will not leave my sight until they are all brought home or brought to justice."

"Okay, we can do that." He smiles softly.

"Do you know how to get a hold of him?" I don't have to say his name.

"He doesn't answer my calls anymore, but I did text him after you were here the last time to let him know that we were bringing you home…" his voice trails off.

"And?"

Bain sighs heavily as he pushes his office door open. "He told me to never contact him again, and then he changed his number."

"So that's it then… I've lost him. I did all this for Beau, and I still lost him."

I say it more to myself, so I don't expect a response, but my mother tries to soothe things, saying, "Let's not worry about that right now. You have been through a great deal and need to rest."

Bain sets me on my feet, and I drop to the chair behind the desk as he turns his computer on. "Mom, I'm not the only one who needs to rest," I tell her as I take the sight of her in. She's sick, really sick, and here she is worrying about me. "I'll rest if you rest."

Smiling, she presses her lips to my head. "Now that you're home, I can."

When ready, I insert the flash drive into the computer and make the copy for Agent Castor. Not wanting to think about Beau and what it all means, I turn my attention to Bain as we wait for the files to finish. "Now that it's just us, where will Sergio and Luca be going?"
